Josh Rosen not flipping from UCLA to Michigan despite rumor

Josh RosenJosh Rosen is not flipping his commitment to UCLA despite rumors that he would follow Jim Harbaugh to Michigan.

Rosen, a senior quarterback from St. John Bosco in Southern California and Rivals’ No. 1 player in the 2015 recruiting class, tweeted on Sunday that his commitment to UCLA is solid.

“I am 100% solid with the UCLA Bruins. There is nothing that could change me from enrolling on Jan 5. I apologize for any rumors that arose,” Rosen wrote on Twitter.

Rosen does not tweet very often, so for him to be compelled to tweet is pretty significant.

The rumor appeared to originate with radio host Gregg Henson, who wrote the following:

“I got another interesting text from a good source that Josh Rosen “is in” if Jim is indeed named the next Head Coach at Michigan. Rosen is a California kid who is committed to UCLA, but sources say he will more than likely be a Wolverine once the search is resolved next week.”

The issue with the report is that the sources seemed to lack any knowledge of the situation. Rosen has been committed to UCLA for months, signed his letter of intent in September, and is set to enroll early so he can get with the program for spring practice. With Brett Hundley leaving for the NFL draft, Rosen has an excellent chance to be the starting quarterback in the fall. I have said and continue to believe that Rosen will be the Bruins’ best four-year starter since Cade McNown.

Though Rosen may have a lot of respect for Harbaugh and like what the coach did with Andrew Luck at Stanford, the youngster’s path to Westwood has long been established. There is no point to changing what he has had planned for nearly a year, especially when he is a week away from beginning his college career.
