Kyle Shanahan throws shade at Oakland Raiders

Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers earned Bay Area bragging rights over the Oakland Raiders with an easy 34-3 win on Thursday night. But according to Shanahan, there isn’t much of a rivalry between the teams. He seems to view it more as a big brother/little brother situation.

The 49ers head coach was asked how it feels with the Niners about to become the only NFL team in the Bay Area with the Raiders set for a move to Las Vegas. He said he feels it’s always been that way because the Niners have been there longer and never left, unlike the Raiders, who moved to Los Angeles from 1982-1994.

Shanahan also freely admits that he grew up a 49ers fan and “Raiders hater,” so that no doubt contributes to his feeling.

Shanahan’s squad entered the game 1-7, so getting such a convincing win probably makes them feel a whole lot better as a franchise. Beating a team he’s never liked probably was an added bonus.
