While some teams were busy in free agency inking guys such as Julius Peppers and Antrel Rolle, others were busy wooing the likes of David Carr. 49ers star linebacker Patrick Willis was unimpressed with the Niners’ efforts and voiced his opinion on his twitter account in some matter-of-fact, yet humorous posts:
we have 3 qb’s that are better then him. That’s a waste of his time.

I’m saying if we going to go get another qb. spend money on a difference maker. Like vick.

I would rather stick with my qb’s now then sign carr.

I know what alex has and I have seen carr play. Ill take my chances with *alex*
I’m pretty sure Willis meant “than” sign Carr in that third tweet because it’s obvious he’s not interested in David. I’m in agreement with Willis. David Carr does not at all appear to be an upgrade over Alex Smith nor Shaun Hill. He might be comparable to the two but not better and certainly not worth spending a couple of million dollars a season on. Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat found the comments to be out of character for Willis but I support what he wrote 100%.
