Ronda Rousey hints at potential movie career

We’ve already seen Gina Carano transition from being one of the top female MMA fighters in the world to acting in movies. Could Ronda Rousey follow her path? The Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion says it’s a possibility.

Rousey was asked following her win over Sarah Kauffman last weekend if Hollywood has come calling and if she would have interest in acting.

“I’m kind of concerned about that stuff … doing movies is kind of a death sentence to being a fighter,” Rousey told MMA Heat. “You have to do six months of shooting and six months of promotion and that’s a whole year you’re not 100% committed to fighting. If someone’s trying to kill you every couple of months, you have to be 100% committed to that.

“I think I want this fight with Cyborg (Santos) in January. After that fight, I’ll probably entertain the idea of doing some other things and possibly not fighting as often and being able to devote myself to one or the other. I let everything develop organically, who knows,” she said.

Seems to me like beating Cyborg would be the perfect time for Rousey to exit MMA and enter the movie business. If she can beat Santos, she will have run through her competition and wouldn’t have anything left to prove inside the cage. Then she could join the likes of Gina Carano and Rampage Jackson by acting in movies. And who could fault her for that? Would you rather take punches and kicks for a living, or memorize some lines in a script?
