According to Tread Athletics, where Zombro works as a coach, Zombro’s position will take effect in spring training. Tread says Zombro “will be working closely with Cubs Leadership in Player Acquisitions, leveraging his unique skill-set to drive value for this storied Organization.”

Tread Athletics is a private training facility in Charlotte, N.C. They offer both in-house training as well as remote coaching.
Zombro has cultivated a reputation for being a top pitching coach. The 30-year-old pitched in the minors from 2017-2023 and made it as high as the Triple-A level. He is known for suffering a seizure after being hit in the head by a line drive while pitching in 2021.
The hire shows the Cubs are thinking outside the box as they strive to improve their pitching.
