Shohei Ohtani will miss at least three weeks with UCL sprain
Shohei Ohtani’s health issues are worse than previously reported.
The Los Angeles Angels’ two-way star was diagnosed with a grade two UCL sprain, according to the team, and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
Shohei Ohtani will be placed on the disabled list with a grade 2 sprain of the UCL. He underwent a PRP and Stem Cell injection yesterday with Dr. Steve Yoon in Los Angeles. He will be re-evaluated in 3 weeks and we will update his plan of care at that time.

Ohtani landing on the disabled list is not a surprise, but the issues were thought to be blister-related, not this.
We already knew there were some potential issues that could arise with Ohtani’s UCL. Unfortunately, that has happened. The aim appears to treat it as it was treated previously, hope it responds well, and have him back by mid- to late-July. Only time will tell, but this news is worrisome to say the least.
