Report: Carmelo Anthony’s future with Rockets seems to be in question
Carmelo Anthony did not play in the Houston Rockets’ game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, and his role with the team seems to be in question.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Anthony and the Rockets are discussing his future role and how they might be able to proceed together for the rest of the season.
While Carmelo Anthony is absent with an illness tonight against the Spurs, the Rockets and Anthony are discussing his role and how they might still be able to proceed together for the rest of the season, league sources tell ESPN. Talks are fluid.

The implication from Woj seems to be that the Rockets might not want Anthony around the rest of the season.
Anthony is coming off a game on Thursday in which he shot 1/11 and missed all six of his threes against Oklahoma City. Anthony already was a terrible defender, so if he isn’t making his shots on offense, then he’s hurting the team in two ways.
The Anthony trade worked out terribly for the Thunder last season; Houston going after him made little sense. The best thing would be for them to cut him as soon as possible. It’s hard to imagine another NBA team picking Melo up if Houston lets him go.
