Enes Kanter blasts writer over Russell Westbrook bashing
Oklahoma City Thunder big man Enes Kanter is looking forward to playing another season alongside Russell Westbrook, and he wants the analysts and talk show hosts who think otherwise to slow their role.
During his usual spot on FOX Sports 1’s “Speak for Yourself” this week, Jason McIntyre went off on Westbrook and said nobody wants to play with the star point guard.
“He’s the new Dwight Howard. Nobody wants to play with him,” McIntyre said. “Dwight Howard was run out of two franchises. We’re gonna see it with Westbrook. He marches to the beat of his own drum.”
Kanter caught wind of that and was not pleased:
Wrong!!!
I do..!
U kidding me!
He makes all of us better.
Don't listen that crazy stuff #ThunderNation https://t.co/Qsau3PDmGo— Enes Kanter (@Enes_Kanter) July 27, 2016
In fairness, I think the point McIntyre was trying to make is that other superstars don’t want to team up with Westbrook. He also used the example of Victor Oladipo wanting to play with Westbrook only because he came from a much lesser team in the Orlando Magic.
Nevertheless, the Thunder are hoping McIntyre is wrong. They are reportedly planning on selling Westbrook on the idea of playing with this fellow superstar in OKC starting in 2017, so they can’t afford for Westbrook to be given the Howard treatment.
