Jaylen Brown calls out Timberwolves broadcaster over salty commentary
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown overcame some of his early-season shooting woes on Sunday, and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ broadcasting team seemed quite bothered by the performance.
Brown’s shooting numbers are way down through his first 13 games this season. He has made just 43.5% of his shots overall and 32.7% from three-point range. Those marks are well below his respective career numbers of 47.9% and 36.2%.
Brown came out firing against Minnesota and buried an incredible five three-pointers in the first 3:30 of the game. With each basket that fell, Timberwolves analyst Jim Petersen became more and more disgusted. The FanDuel Sports Network North announcer threw out all kinds of stats showing how cold Brown has been this season.
“You come into this game and I go, literally, ‘I would give him that shot.’ 7-of-27 from that part of the floor coming into this game — 25.9%,” an exasperated Peterson said after Brown’s fifth three-pointer went down.

Obviously, Brown was shooting the ball much better than he normally does. Still, many people felt Petersen was desperately trying to make Brown sound like a worse shooter than he is, rather than just acknowledging that the three-time All-Star began the season in a slump.
Brown also caught wind of the comments and responded on social media Monday.
“Hating a– broadcast lol,” Brown wrote on X (edited by LBS for profanity).
Brown finished with 29 points and led the Celtics to a 107-105 victory over Minnesota. He shot 10/18 from the floor overall and 7/10 from three-point range.
No one expected Brown to tie a Celtics record for most three-pointers made in the first quarter, but we doubt anyone was as irritated with the hot streak as Petersen.
