Report: Knicks optimistic that they will get meeting with Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant

The New York Knicks are not among the group of teams granted initial meetings with Kevin Durant, but they are optimistic that they will get their chance to speak with the free agent-to-be.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, there is no meeting set up between Durant and the Knicks, but the team remains hopeful that they will get one eventually.

The Knicks’ belief is likely in part due to the fact that Durant is close with Carmelo Anthony, and his agent, Rich Kleiman, is on good terms with Knicks general manager Steve Mills. Begley notes, however, that with the Knicks being excluded from the first and possibly only wave of meetings, they’re facing an uphill climb to convince Durant to join.

The Knicks believe they have a chance after acquiring Derrick Rose, but the truth is, they’re probably barely on Durant’s radar. One NBA agent doesn’t believe they have a chance of luring him at all.
