Kyler Murray has chosen not to completely shut the door on a potential NFL career when discussing his future recently, and the Oklahoma star is projected to be drafted even higher now if he decides to play football.
On Wednesday, Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert announced that he will be returning to school for his senior season. He was projected by many to be the first QB taken in the draft, which means Murray has probably moved even further up the board for teams who have a need at the position. One source told ESPN’s Mike Sando that Murray is generating “a lot of buzz” at the NFL level and would likely be drafted in the first two rounds.
With QB Justin Herbert returning to Oregon, there will be even more atention on Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, about whom one source told @SandoESPN: "There's a lot of buzz on Murray. I think he goes first two rounds."

Murray’s baseball agent Scott Boras insists his client has given no consideration to playing in the NFL and will report to the Oakland A’s, who drafted him No. 9 overall back in June. Murray, however, has said he will weigh his options after Oklahoma’s season ends and get a sense of what NFL teams think of him.
If Murray is going to put stock into what NFL teams think of him, continuing to play football may be a stronger possibility than Boras wants to believe. Baker Mayfield came from the same system as Murray, and he was drafted first overall last year and has turned things around for the Cleveland Browns.
There are plenty of financial considerations for Murray when deciding between baseball and football, but Herbert’s decision to remain at Oregon could also end up being a factor.
