Breece Hall calls out 1 poor Jets decision in loss to Cowboys
The New York Jets were handily dispatched by the Dallas Cowboys 30-10 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday. Breece Hall believes he knows why.
The Jets were held scoreless in three out of the four quarters. Their lone touchdown came on a second-quarter drive that featured a single play — a 68-yard TD reception by wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
While speaking to reporters following the loss, Hall blamed the lack of offense on the Jets abandoning the run game.
“I mean, I only had four touches,” Hall said, via NJ.com’s Andy Vasquez. “That’s why we struggled. But it is what it is. We just got down early today and kind of just abandoned the run. I feel like with any team that type of stuff happens, that’s how it is. You feel like you’ve got to get back in the game and stuff like that. It just slips away. So that’s what it was.”
Hall was limited to just 4 carries and 9 rushing yards — both career lows for the 22-year-old running back. It’s a far cry from his 127 yards on 10 carries during the season opener against the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets ran the football a total of just 16 times compared to the Cowboys’ 44 rushing attempts. Zach Wilson led the team in both carries (5) and rushing yards (36).
Part of the reason for the Jets’ aversion to run the football could have been due to the Cowboys’ formidable defense. But after the Jets lost Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury, it would not have been surprising to see the team lean more toward the ground game.
After all, the Jets’ current starting quarterback generated more memes than completions on Sunday.
