Brent Grimes downplays wife Miko’s Ryan Tannehill tweets
Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes tried to distance himself from the critical tweets his wife Miko sent about quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Grimes didn’t endorse his wife’s comments, though he didn’t renounce them either.
“My wife’s opinions are her opinions,” Grimes said Wednesday, via USA Today. “They’re not my opinions. I really don’t understand why you ask me about my wife’s opinions. It’s not mine.”
As Grimes spoke, his teammates shouted and messed around in support of him, demonstrating that any locker room issues caused by the tweets had seemingly been dealt with.
“You can see I don’t have a problem in the locker room,” Grimes said. “I talked to people, and it’s not a problem. I talked to Ryan, and there’s no problem.”
Tannehill confirmed that Grimes apologized to him and said that it was only an issue for the media to talk about.
“I’ve heard what she said, and I really don’t want to give it the time of day,” Tannehill said. “It doesn’t affect what I think about myself, the way I go about by business and prepare to win games. The saddest part about this whole thing is we have to answer questions about it, and it’s becoming a distraction to this organization. Other than that, it’s just business as usual. Nothing has changed for me.”
On Sunday, Miko Grimes tweeted that the Dolphins were “screwed” as long as Tannehill was under center, and asserted that he was “the problem” with Miami. It seems all is well in the locker room, though.
