Suspect charged with assault for punching Dallas Goedert
A suspect has been arrested and charged with assault for punching Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert on Friday.
In a statement sent to ESPN’s Tim McManus, the Aberdeen Police said that 29-year-old Kyle Douglas Hadala had been arrested and charged with simple assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor, for punching Goedert in the face at the Zoo Bar in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Sources told McManus that Hadala was in South Dakota for work, and the punch actually knocked Goedert unconscious.
Brown County chief deputy state’s attorney Ernest Thompson told ESPN that Hadala avoided a more serious charge because Goedert did not suffer “serious bodily injury” as a result of the punch. Hadala has been released on bond and has a scheduled court date on July 10.
You can see video of the altercation here, which indicates that Goedert was punched unprovoked.
Goedert made 58 catches for 607 yards and five touchdowns for the Eagles in 2019. All three of those marks ranked second on the team.
