Lamar Jackson wants to make doubters ‘eat their words’

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson has a great attitude about the way he approaches doubters.

When Jackson entered the NFL, he had plenty of critics. Some people were impressed with him, which led to his draft stock rising. Then you had one NFL coach saying Lamar couldn’t be an NFL quarterback. Other teams wanted him to work out as a wide receiver.

Through a few weeks of the 2019 season and even going back to last year, Jackson has played well. This season he’s among the early MVP candidates. So how does he handle his doubters? He talked about it in an interview with NFL Network’s Steve Smith.

“Regardless of what they may say — you’re going to see negative comments of what people say. I see it all. I’m not going to fight against those people. There’s always going to be naysayers, doubters. That’s part of the game. I’m going to make those people eat their words. That’s my job — to make you eat your words,” Jackson said in his interview with Smith.

Jackson seems to love giving it to his haters too. He had words for them last year and again after Week 1 this year. As long as he keeps playing well, he’ll be able to make critics eat their words.
