Marshawn Lynch reportedly hoping to play again this season after groin surgery
Marshawn Lynch has been placed on injured reserve by the Oakland Raiders after he underwent surgery to repair a core muscle last week, but the veteran running back is hoping his 2018 season is not officially over.
According to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, Lynch is aiming to play when he is eligible to return from IR in Week 16. As it turns out, that will be the Raiders’ last home game of the season.
#Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch had surgery last Thursday to repair his groin, per source. Lynch is hopeful to return this season and is averaging 4.2 YPC. The 32-year-old is eligible to return from IR Week 16 (Christmas Eve) for Oakland’s final home game – MNF against the #Broncos.

Lynch grew up in Oakland, and he basically came out of retirement to play for his hometown team. He’s also 32 and has a contract that is set to expire at the end of the season, so it’s possible he wants to wear the black and silver one more time before he calls it a career.
Initial reports about Lynch’s groin injury were optimistic, but he is going to miss almost all of the season no matter how his recovery goes.
