NFL will reportedly allow Antonio Brown to play against Dolphins

Antonio Brown

If the New England Patriots feel comfortable having Antonio Brown on the active roster for their game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the NFL is not going to stop them.

The NFL is not planning to place Brown on the commissioner’s exempt list despite the allegations that surfaced earlier this week claiming he sexually assaulted a woman he used to train with. While Brown is facing a civil lawsuit, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is not placing him on the exempt list at this time because there has been no criminal investigation opened.

Brown was reportedly in confidential legal talks with the accuser, Britney Taylor, for months prior to the lawsuit being filed. That is why neither the Patriots nor the Oakland Raiders, Brown’s former team, were aware of the allegations.

The NFL is investigating Taylor’s claims, and Pennsylvania prosecutors said this week that they will also look into the allegations. However, a criminal investigation has not officially been opened.

Taylor says Brown sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions in 2017 and raped her in 2018. You can read more about the details of the allegations here. Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday that the team is taking things one day at a time with Brown, but the fact that the star receiver has been practicing would seemingly indicate he is in line to play Sunday.
