Robert Griffin III: I was put in ‘impossible situation, Mike Shanahan didn’t want me
Robert Griffin III has not said much publicly in recent months, but a radio interview featuring one of his former teammates has inspired the free agent quarterback to come out swinging.
Santana Moss, who was a wide receiver with the Washington Redskins when Griffin was still there, told Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan that RG3 had a “that’s what you get” attitude after Mike Shanahan — who had benched Griffin — was fired. Griffin fired back by calling Moss a liar, and he later sent some tweets saying he was put in an “impossible situation” with Shanahan.
Put in an impossible situation w/ a coach who never wanted me. Made players like Santana Moss a believer through hard work, film study…

Showing up early, leaving late, putting in the extra hours, staying after practice & getting extra work in. We won the division that year.

Next year coach wants out, says he wants out, says he never wanted me as his QB & I GET BLAMED? C'mon man. I have been the good soldier.

Some so desperately want me to fit this negative narrative that has been pushed about me. But I don't fit it. Never have. Never will.

Proved it in Cleveland. Voted Captain. Came back to play for my teammates just to help us win 1 game. With a broken shoulder. Stop the lies

No one is going to dispute that Griffin and Shanahan never got along, though there has been plenty of debate over who was at fault for their relationship failing. In reality, both shared some of the blame. Still, Moss’s remarks aren’t the first ones we have heard about RG3 thinking he was above the coaching staff when he was with the Redskins.
