Santana Moss spent 14 seasons in the NFL, with the final 10 coming as a member of the Redskins. While in Washington, Moss played with more than a handful of quarterbacks. He recently ranked his top five.
During a segment for CSN Mid-Atlantic, the former Pro Bowler stood in front of a screen with the names of ten quarterbacks on it. Some will spark good memories for Washington fans, others may cause anger. The list included John Beck, Mark Brunell, Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Kirk Cousins, Robert Griffin III, Rex Grossman, Colt McCoy, Donovan McNabb, and Patrick Ramsey.
Here’s Moss narrowing down the choices along with a brief explanation of each.
I don’t think many people would have guessed Brunell would grab the top spot, but here we are. Back in 2005, Moss hauled in 84 passes for a career-high 1,483 yards and nine touchdowns. Brunell started 15 games that year and threw for more than 3,000 yards for the first since 2001 and the only time he reached the mark as a member of the Redskins.
In McNabb’s only season in Washington, Moss had a career-high 93 catches and 1,115 yards. Grossman has to be considered a surprise at No. 3, right? In 2008, Campbell started all 16 games. Moss recorded 1,044 yards that year and was second on the team with 79 receptions. In Griffin’s rookie year, Moss snagged eight touchdowns.
Not surprisingly, getting Moss the ball is a good way to work your way up the rankings.
