Report: Some with Browns feel Robert Griffin injury could be good thing

Robert Griffin

Robert Griffin III’s injury is reportedly being viewed by some as a good thing, for a very interesting reason.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, some people associated with the franchise believe Griffin getting hurt could benefit the franchise. The stated reason? Coach Hue Jackson was obsessed with making Griffin a quality quarterback again, and he and the team can now focus their attentions elsewhere.

The fact is, no matter what happened with Griffin, they’re going to need to find a solution to the quarterback position long-term. Some in the front office have talked as though it is Griffin, and Jackson may well be a believer as well. However, it sounds like that’s not a unanimous opinion amongst Browns employees, and losing eight weeks of the season will definitely work against him. The implication is that Jackson was simply too invested in RG3, and perhaps having to assess other options will be good for all involved, even if Griffin does eventually return to action and take the position back.
