The Detroit Tigers can simply do no wrong.
The Tigers already led the hapless Chicago White Sox 8-0 exactly halfway through Monday’s AL Central clash at Rate Field in Chicago, Ill. The teams’ fortunes did not change to begin the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty tied up White Sox right fielder Joshua Palacios with a nasty 2-2 knuckle curve in the bottom of the zone. The ball popped up high over foul ground past third base.
Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler had the best chance to make the play. He tried to make a sliding catch, but the ball popped out of his glove. As luck would have it, the ball fell right into the glove of third baseman Zach McKinstry, who looked mystified to have made the grab.
The play was made even better on the Tigers broadcast with announcer Jason Benetti on the call.

Detroit entered Monday’s game with a 39-21 record to lead the majors. The Tigers hardly needed any more blessings from the baseball gods against a White Sox squad with the worst record in the American League.
White Sox fans thought their fortunes were going to change once a devout fan of the team was named Pope. But any baseball-related prayers from Chicago’s South Side seem to have gone unanswered.
