Trevor Lawrence in danger of missing game for first time in NFL career
The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off their third consecutive loss, and there is a chance they could be without Trevor Lawrence as they fight for a playoff spot in Week 16.
Lawrence entered concussion protocol following Jacksonville’s 23-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Lawrence sustained an injury on one of his three scrambles on the team’s last drive, though it is unclear which.
Lawrence has never missed an NFL game since the Jaguars drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2021. It appeared that streak might end recently after he suffered a significant ankle injury, but Lawrence has been able to play through that.
The Jaguars fell to 8-6 with their loss to Baltimore. They are now tied with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts atop the AFC South. Lawrence will have to clear several hurdles in the NFL’s concussion protocol between now and next Sunday in order to be able to play.
Lawrence had a rough night against the Ravens on Monday. The former Clemson star went 25/43 for 264 yards and a touchdown, but he lost two fumbles. Lawrence also made a critical mistake with clock management before halftime.
