Bret Bielema takes shot at Charlie Strong’s ‘core values’

Bret Bielema Horns Down

Two weeks ago, it appeared that Arkansas coach Bret Bielema secretly disrespected the Texas Longhorns when he flashed the “Horns down” symbol. As it turns out, he likely just has a nervous twitch in his hand. But on Monday, there was no question Bielema was sipping on the Hatorade.

While speaking to reporters, Bielema took a clear shot at Texas coach Charlie Strong and his “core values.”

“I love when coaches have five rules in their locker room and No. 1 is no guns,” Bielema said, per Football Scoop’s Zach Barnett. “Well, no s***!”

After he dismissed several players over the summer, Strong explained that he holds players to a certain standard off the field. Strong’s five “core values” are honesty, treating women with respect and no drugs, stealing or guns.

Bielema was just trying to point out that most of those go without saying. While he has a point, we’ve seen some pretty dumb things from Division-1 collegiate athletes this year (this guy immediately comes to mind). Sometimes you have to spell things out — literally.
