Dwyane Wade ex-wife wants divorce settlement re-opened after new deal

Siohvaughn Funches Dwyane Wade

Three years after settling following their divorce, the ex-wife of Dwyane Wade is now pushing to have the settlement re-opened in light of the Chicago Bulls guard’s new $47 million contract.

Siohvaughn Funches is suing her former divorce lawyer, Brian Hurst, for malpractice, according to Kim Janssen of the Chicago Tribune. She claims that Hurst agreed to the $5 million-plus settlement without her knowledge. The Tribune also says Funches is seeking a piece of Wade’s new basketball earnings.

On Friday, that suit was tossed, but Funches was given the opportunity to file an amended suit, with her new lawyer saying she will do so. Wade himself was not named as a defendant in the suit.

Wade and Funches settled in 2013 despite divorcing three years earlier and splitting in 2007. The two have two sons together. Wade has since moved on and married Gabrielle Union. Wade’s ex-wife continues to have serious problems, including three years ago when she was acting homeless on the streets.
