Yahoo’s Chris Haynes first reported on Tuesday that Green was being punished by the team for his actions on Monday. According to Haynes, “the organization is of the belief that Green cut too deep in his disagreement with Durant.”
Green got into a verbal altercation with Durant, who voiced complaints about Green not passing him the ball on the final play of regulation during an overtime loss to the Clippers. Things spilled into the locker room after the game, where it reportedly became even more heated.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania characterized the move as something done to let Green “cool off.”
