Report: Kyle O’Quinn wants to sign with Warriors
The Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship this past season despite having a glut of largely unplayable big men on their roster. Now a potential solution may be waiting in the wings for them.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Wednesday that New York Knicks big man Kyle O’Quinn has declined his player option for the 2018-19 season in order to become an unrestricted free agent.
Marcus Thompson of The Athletic elaborated on Wojnarowski’s tweet by reporting that O’Quinn would like to sign with the Warriors.
Now he is a good fit and he wants to come to GSW https://t.co/585SLFKoxT

O’Quinn, 28, is coming off a year where he averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game in a low-usage bench role for the Knicks. He also used to be teammates with Warriors assistant Willie Green on the Orlando Magic.
The former Norfolk State star O’Quinn can offer defense and rim protection on one end with a midrange game and playmaking ability on the other end. It’s the type of skillset that Golden State could use now that Zaza Pachulia, Kevon Looney, David West, and JaVale McGee are all set to be free agents. A gig with the Warriors might also help O’Quinn develop his desired talent.
