Rockets’ PJ Tucker dealing with nerve damage in shoulder

Things are going from bad to worse for the Houston Rockets.

Rockets forward PJ Tucker revealed to reporters on Tuesday that he is dealing with nerve damage in his right shoulder after suffering a stinger against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 11.

“It’s really hard, when you got nerve damage, it’s really tough,” said Tucker, per Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston. “But it’s something I don’t complain about. I just play, and that’s it. There’s nothing else to talk about. We’re struggling, and I gotta fight through it.”

This news comes with the Rockets in the midst of a four-game losing streak that has sunk them to sixth in the West. Tucker, who is averaging 7.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season, is one of their most important players with the versatility, defense, and physicality that he provides.

Houston may get another key contributor back in time for the playoffs, but having a vital player like Tucker felled by a painful and lingering ailment like nerve damage is obviously a rough break.
