Dan Mullen credits ‘intimidating’ Swamp for creating advantage
Very few people felt that Florida was a better team than LSU prior to Saturday, and the Gators still probably aren’t as talented of a team as the Tigers. But when your fans add to the excitement by screaming at the top of their lungs for three hours, sometimes none of that matters.
Florida coach Dan Mullen feels that is exactly what happened in his team’s 27-19 win over LSU. After the game, Mullen pointed out how the environment at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka The Swamp) was “intimidating.”
Mullen on #Gators fans today: “The Swamp was an intimidating place to come play. It gave us an unbelievable advantage.”

It’s hard to say with certainty that crowd noise played a role in Florida’s victory, but LSU looked frazzled on numerous occasions during the second half. Heck, a quarterback who hadn’t thrown an interception all year threw one that was an absolute back-breaker and may have cost his team the game. Gators fans deserve credit for bringing the passion.
