Jameis Winston accuser Erica Kinsman swears her drink was tainted

Jameis-Winston

The woman who accused Jameis Winston of rape more than two years ago revealed her identity in a new documentary called “The Hunting Ground,” which dives into the issue of sexual assault on college campuses. In addition to maintaining that she was raped, Erica Kinsman also suspects she was drugged.

According to Marissa Payne of The Washington Post, Kinsman said in the documentary that she recalls taking a shot with Winston at Potbelly’s nightclub in Tallahassee after the Florida State quarterback pretended to be her boyfriend to get another guy to stop bothering her. Kinsman is convinced the drink was spiked.

“I’m totally certain something was in that drink,” she said.

Kinsman said the next thing she remembers was ending up in a cab with Winston and two other men. She said that leaving in a cab with the men was “uncharacteristic” behavior for her. She claims Winston then raped her at his apartment.

“He was on top of me and I couldn’t really breathe,” Kinsman says, noting Winston’s roommate disrupted Winston’s first attempt when he entered his bedroom because the door didn’t lock. She said the roommate, who she does not identify, pleaded with Winston to stop and noted Klinsman was saying “no.” That’s when Kinsman said Winston picked her up and took her to the bathroom, where the door did lock.

“He pushed his hand over my face and pushed my face to the floor,” she said, recalling the floor was tile. She said he dressed her and told her it was time to leave after he was done.

After that, Kinsman said she agreed to let Winston drive her home on his scooter but had him let her off at an intersection so he wouldn’t know where she lived. She said she went to a hospital and had a rape kit administered, but the results were not tested until months later.

As we know, Kinsman previously claimed that Tallahassee Police had warned her against pursuing charges in a “football town.” She reiterated that in the documentary. Kinsman later filed this lawsuit because of it.

Charges have been dropped against Winston and he was also cleared in his FSU Code of Conduct hearing. From a legal standpoint, he is pretty much off the hook. Whether you choose to believe Kinsman or Winston is up to you.
