49ers hopeful Jimmy Garoppolo will be ready for OTAs

Jimmy Garoppolo

The San Francisco 49ers are maintaining optimism about Jimmy Garoppolo’s recovery timeline from a torn ACL.

Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL in the 49ers’ Week 3 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. He underwent surgery on Oct. 3, a little over a week after the injury.

49ers GM John Lynch says they are hopeful Garoppolo will be ready for OTAs this spring.

“We’re hopeful he’s going to get to take part in our OTAs,” Lynch told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on the RapSheet & Friends podcast. “That’s the plan, and he hasn’t had any setbacks, so he’s doing really well. I’m really proud of him too.”

Lynch also said that Garoppolo rehabbing at the same time as Jerick McKinnon, who suffered the same injury, has helped both of them.

Garoppolo was signed to a $137.5 million contract extension by San Francisco prior to the season after going 5-0 as a starter last season.
