DeAndre Hopkins is now several years removed from being viewed as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but that does not mean the former All-Pro is ready to call it a career.
Hopkins just fulfilled his dream of playing in a Super Bowl, though the result was extremely disappointing for the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran had 2 catches for 18 yards and a touchdown in a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that was not as close as the final score indicates.
With Hopkins set to become a free agent next month, there has been some speculation that the soon-to-be 33-year-old might retire. The five-time Pro Bowl wideout appeared to address his future via social media on Tuesday, though he quickly deleted the post.
“Don’t know what you heard but I’m not done yet,” Hopkins wrote on X.
A post from a fake Adam Schefter social media account claimed on Monday that Hopkins had decided to retire, so that may have been what Hopkins felt the need to address. It is unclear why he deleted his post and whether that means he is still undecided about his future.
The Chiefs acquired Hopkins in a trade with the Tennessee Titans this season. Hopkins had 41 catches for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns in 10 games with Kansas City.
Hopkins will probably only want to play for a contender at this point in his career. Whether the Chiefs want him back will likely depend upon the type of contract he is seeking this offseason.
