Jags TE Geoff Swaim appeared to be knocked out cold by helmet-to-helmet hit
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Geoff Swaim took a brutal hit from New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis during Sunday’s game, and he appeared to be knocked unconscious.
Swaim was trying to reel in a pass over the middle of the field early in the fourth quarter when Davis made helmet-to-helmet contact with him. The hit caused Swaim to drop the ball and spin around, with his leg bending awkwardly underneath him as he went to the turf. He laid motionless on the ground for several moments.

Fortunately, Swaim was able to walk off the field. The Jaguars quickly announced that he was being evaluated for a concussion.
While the NFL has taken strides to limit hits to the head in recent years, there have been several such plays this season that have left players knocked out cold. We saw a similar play last week when Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph took a brutal shot from Earl Thomas, and Rudolph was out this week as a result. Here’s hoping Swaim is able to recover quickly.
