Past concerns about Rashee Rice emerge amid latest assault allegations
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been drawing attention for the wrong reasons this offseason. As legal troubles continue to plague Rice, his past behavior has also started to come to light.
Rice is currently under investigation for allegedly assaulting a photographer at a nightclub earlier this week. The Chiefs wideout was already slated to receive major disciplinary action from the NFL for his involvement in a multi-vehicle car crash in March.
With Rice’s legal trouble making headlines, people have been digging into the Chiefs player’s past behavior. An old scouting report on the 2023 second-round pick recently went viral. The player profile written by an NFL scout had a vague yet concerning description of Rice.
A report published Friday by The Athletic’s Nate Taylor and Jeff Howe got into more detail about what had potentially concerned NFL teams about the SMU alum before the 2023 NFL Draft.
Several NFL teams had reportedly removed Rice entirely from their draft boards due to an alleged incident while the wideout was still at SMU. Rice had been accused of firing multiple bullets at an empty car belonging to former SMU men’s basketball player Kendric Davis. According to the report, Rice had suspected that Davis “was involved with his girlfriend.”
The Chiefs were reportedly aware of the alleged incident when they drafted Rice.
Rice emerged as one of the Chiefs’ most reliable receiving options as a rookie. He led the team with seven receiving touchdowns, and his 938 receiving yards ranked second only to All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.
