Ravens drop Mark Andrews surprise ahead of playoffs
The Baltimore Ravens won six of their last seven games to finish off the regular season, and it turns out that wasn’t even their final form.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Friday that the Ravens have officially designated star tight end Mark Andrews to return from injured reserve. Andrews has been out since late November with an ankle injury.
Baltimore also posted some footage of the three-time Pro Bowler Andrews returning to practice on Friday.

Andrews, 27, was injured in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals on a controversial hip-drop tackle by Cincinnati’s Logan Wilson (video here). Though Andrews had to undergo surgery to fix his ankle, the Ravens noted at the time that Andrews’ injury was not as bad as they had initially feared.
Still, Baltimore had mostly been mum on Andrews’ recovery since then, so for him to suddenly emerge out of the tunnel ahead of the playoffs is a very pleasant surprise. Andrews gets another full week to work his way back into shape since the 13-4 Ravens clinched a first-round bye. He should return to being Lamar Jackson’s favorite target come the Divisional Round, giving opponents another pass-catcher to worry about along with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Odell Beckham Jr.
