Report: Tony Romo would consider return if Cowboys needed him
Tony Romo has decided to retire from football to spend more time with his family and pursue a career in broadcasting, but that does not mean he is totally ruling out a return to the field.
Jane Slater of NFL Network reports that Romo would consider playing again if a situation arose where the Dallas Cowboys needed him.

That likely means Romo would reconsider his retirement if Dak Prescott suffered some sort of serious injury. Should something like that happen, Romo could — in theory — step in and help the Cowboys remain competitive without having to learn a new system.
Romo reportedly has at least one very good offer from a TV network, and there are likely many others. If he is, in fact, open to returning to the Cowboys in the right situation, any contract he signs for a job in TV would likely include a clause that allows him to pursue that opportunity if need be.
