Seahawks to be sold after Super Bowl
The Seattle Seahawks are going up for sale soon, and the team’s current owners couldn’t have timed things better.
ESPN’s Seth Wickersham and Brady Henderson reported on Friday that the Seahawks will be posted for sale after the Super Bowl. The team had been owned by the late Paul Allen until his death in 2018. The team has since been owned by Allen’s trust, of which his sister, Jody Allen, is the executor.
Allen had directed his sister to sell the team at some point following his death, and donate the proceeds to charity. Jody Allen’s timeline for waiting to sell the team apparently allowed an amount of time to pass that will result in the trust avoiding having to pay a 10 percent share of the proceeds to the state of Washington.
Allen selling the team following a Super Bowl run will add value to the franchise via their success, and the extra exposure gained for their brand.
The Washington Commanders franchise sold in 2023 for just over $6 billion. The Seahawks are expected to garner more money than that, with some figuring the sale could generate $7-$8 billion.
The Seahawks have been in the NFL since 1976. This will be their fourth Super Bowl appearance. They have won one Super Bowl, and have only had one losing season since 2012.
Giants could land former NFL head coach as their new OC
John Harbaugh has a big choice to make as he decides on the New York Giants’ next offensive coordinator. He may be able to land a former head coach to do the job for him.
Former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is “expected to be in the mix” for the Giants’ offensive coordinator job, according to Jordan Ranaan of ESPN. The Giants also considered Kingsbury in their head coach search before going with Harbaugh.
The Giants will likely be attracted to the success Kingsbury had in Washington with Jayden Daniels in 2024. Kingsbury helped turn Daniels into a rising star, and the quarterback was thought to be unhappy with his offensive coordinator’s departure. With Jaxson Dart in the fold, the Giants will want an offense coordinator who can deliver similar results.
Kingsbury and the Commanders parted ways at the end of the season, but he unexpectedly has yet to find a new job. He got looks from a few teams as a head coach candidate, but never seemed to be among the finalists for any of those positions.
Kingsbury went 28-37-1 as a head coach with Arizona from 2019 to 2022. His record with quarterbacks is better than that, though, and Dart may be his next project.
Former Yankees All-Star announces his retirement from MLB
One veteran MLB reliever is ready to start sipping piña coladas.
Right-hander David Robertson took to Instagram on Friday to officially announce his retirement from Major League Baseball. Robertson is calling it a career after 17 total MLB seasons.
“I’ve decided it’s time for me to hang up my spikes and retire from the game I’ve loved for as long as I can remember,” said Robertson.
“I’ll forever be thankful for the game and for everyone who made this journey extraordinary,” Robertson added.
You can see Robertson’s full post here.
Now 40 years old, Robertson debuted for the New York Yankees in 2008. He went on to win a World Series championship with them in 2009 and also later made an All-Star team in New York during the 2011 season.
Robertson then went on to pitch for the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Miami Marlins, and Texas Rangers over the course of his career. In 2025, Robertson returned for his third separate stint with the Phillies and went 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 20 total appearances.
While Robertson’s time in Philadelphia might be best remembered for a bizarre injury he suffered a few years ago, he had quite the career as a whole. In addition to his World Series ring and All-Star appearance, Robertson won a gold medal with the United States in the 2017 World Baseball Classic and silver with the U.S. in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He finishes his MLB career with an overall record of 68-46 with a 2.93 ERA, 1,176 strikeouts, 179 saves, and career earnings of over $100 million.
Raiders and Cardinals are battling for the same head coach candidate
Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is likely coaching his last game in that role at the Super Bowl.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed in an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” Friday that Kubiak is “definitely” going to land either the Las Vegas Raiders or Arizona Cardinals head coaching position. The hiring process has been delayed by the Seahawks’ run to the Super Bowl.
"Klint Kubiak is getting the Raiders or the Cardinals job..
— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) January 30, 2026
He's definitely getting one of those jobs"@AdamSchefter #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/Wq3s2i604i
While both the Cardinals and Raiders want Kubiak, it sounds like the Raiders are best positioned to land him. That would leave Arizona with the only vacancy, and the names at the top of their list are completely different.
The Raiders job is likely viewed as slightly more attractive than the Cardinals one because of the No. 1 overall pick and the chance to select a franchise quarterback. The Cardinals’ quarterback situation is less certain, with Kyler Murray thought to be on his way out.
Kubiak, 38, is in his first season as the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator after spending the 2024 season as the New Orleans Saints’ OC. His offense ranks third in the NFL in points and 8th in yards. He is the son of former NFL head coach Gary Kubiak, and has been coaching since 2010.
Notable update emerges on Lonzo Ball’s future
Lonzo Ball might not even ending up lasting for a full year in Cleveland.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are discussing avenues to trade away their point guard Ball ahead of the Feb. 5 NBA deadline, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported on Friday. Siegel notes that the Cavaliers would like expiring contracts in order to move out of the second apron of the luxury tax.
Ball, still only 28 years old, was acquired by the Cavaliers over the summer as part of a trade with the Chicago Bulls. Cleveland managed to land the former No. 2 overall pick in exchange for forward Isaac Okoro.
But Ball has been largely invisible this season for the 29-20 Cavs. He has appeared in 33 total games, averaging 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest. Ball’s shooting splits have also been especially ghastly at 31/28/70.
The former UCLA star Ball is under contract this year for an affordable $10 million. He also has a $10 million team option for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Ball, who missed almost three full calendar years from 2022-24 due to nagging knee issues, has at least slightly re-proven himself from a health standpoint. A contending team in need of a defending and playmaking role piece off the bench might just be interested in taking a swing on Ball (who drew trade interest from three notable teams not too long ago).
Ravens have hired a new offensive coordinator
The Baltimore Ravens are going with a fresh face as their new offensive coordinator.
The Ravens are hiring Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle as their new offensive coordinator. The move counts as a promotion, as Doyle will have playcalling duties in Baltimore that he did not have under Ben Johnson in Chicago.
ESPN sources: the Baltimore Ravens are hiring Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator. Doyle can leave because, in Baltimore, he will have play-calling responsibility. But new Ravens HC Jesse Minter now has someone to run Baltimore’s offense. pic.twitter.com/ad4iDXLjyh
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 30, 2026
Doyle, 29, is a former Sean Payton assistant who just came off his first season as an offensive coordinator with the Bears. He is seen as one of the NFL’s bright young minds, and the Ravens clearly feel he is ready to elevate Lamar Jackson to another level.
Doyle was also targeted by the Philadelphia Eagles for their offensive coordinator vacancy, but withdrew his name from consideration earlier this week.
The Ravens should look significantly different next year. New head coach Jesse Minter was seen as an excellent hire by most pundits, and Doyle figures to ensure the offense looks a lot different than it did during the John Harbaugh years.
Report reveals which team is most likely to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo
If Giannis Antetokounmpo is traded before the Feb. 5 trade deadline, one team appears most likely to pull the deal off.
In an appearance on ESPN Friday, Brian Windhorst said the Golden State Warriors are the most likely team to pull off an Antetokounmpo trade now. Others, he said, would likely have to wait until the offseason due to how complicated it would be to set up a trade now.
“If there’s a deal that’s going to be made before the deadline, in my belief, Golden State is the team to make that deal, because the other teams have to get third and fourth teams involved,” Windhorst said. “That’s why Golden State is going to be probably the most aggressive between now and Thursday. Their best position is doing a deal before next Thursday.”

"If there is a deal thats going to be done before the dealine, in my belief, Golden State is the team to make that deal" pic.twitter.com/84tTYL3fsm
The Warriors are unique in that they have a lot of future draft capital to offer, which will appeal to Milwaukee. Jonathan Kuminga would also likely be part of the package, and the Warriors could include Jimmy Butler’s salary to even things out.
Due to the Bucks’ demands and salary cap realities, other interested teams would likely have to bring in extra teams to meet the asking price for Antetokounmpo. The more complicated a trade is and the more moving parts it has, the more difficult it will be to get done within the next week.
The Warriors have long been interested in Antetokounmpo, though there are other teams popping up now that a trade seems to be a real possibility. Golden State is desperate for one last run at a title with Steph Curry in the fold, and this is probably their best shot at making that happen.
Sha’Carri Richardson’s boyfriend Christian Coleman was also arrested during stop
Christian Coleman got himself into some trouble of his own during girlfriend Sha’Carri Richardson’s traffic stop this week.
The United States Olympic sprinter Richardson was arrested by police in the Orlando, Fla. area on Thursday on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding. Richardson was allegedly going over 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic on the highway (read the full details here).
TMZ Sports reports that Coleman, Richardson’s boyfriend and fellow Olympic sprinter, was also arrested at the scene. Coleman reportedly pulled up in a Black Jeep at the scene of Richardson’s stop and had to be instructed by police to return to his vehicle as he approached officers in an attempt to prevent Richardson from being arrested.
Police also say that Coleman, while walking back to his vehicle, dropped an object in the grass. Coleman also allegedly failed to comply with orders not to interfere with the stop and even supposedly refused to provide identification to officers.
Eventually, police say that they conducted a search of Coleman’s vehicle and found a “glass smoking device” in the center console with residue believed to be cannabis on it. Coleman was ultimately arrested at the scene on charges of drug paraphernalia and resisting.
You can read TMZ’s full report on the Coleman situation here.
Coleman, 29, is a seven-time World Championships medalist who specializes in short sprints. He is the world record holder for the indoor 60-meter (posting a time of 6.34 seconds back in 2018) and has also competed in the Olympics in the 100-meter. Coleman is the preferred opening leg for the United States men’s relay team in the 4×100 due to his reputation as one of the fastest starters out of the blocks in the entire world.
As for Coleman’s personal life, he went public with his relationship with Richardson last year. But the two have certainly had their troubles ever since then as Richardson was arrested last July on a charge of domestic violence after an ugly incident with Coleman at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport in King County-Wash.
Coleman notably declined to press charges against Richardson for the July incident, resulting in the case being dropped. He also went on to publicly defend Richardson after her July arrest.
Report: Thunder could trade away 1 key starter from championship team
The Oklahoma City Thunder could potentially be moving on from IHartRadio.
Oklahoma City is considering the possibility of trading away center Isaiah Hartenstein, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported Friday during an episode of “The Hoop Collective.” Windhorst notes that Hartenstein’s name has come up in “some trade chatter” ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
The seven-footer Hartenstein was a very impactful starter for the Thunder during their NBA championship run last season. He provided a big-big dynamic in the starting lineup alongside Chet Holmgren and was crucial in matching up against centers like Nikola Jokic and Rudy Gobert in the playoffs.
This season, Hartenstein is averaging 11.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. But he just recently returned from a 16-game absence due to a soleus strain, forcing the Thunder to figure out how to play without him over that stretch.
Hartenstein’s contract could also make him pretty appealing to opposing teams. He is making $28.5 million this season with a $28.5 million team option for next season, meaning that he can effectively be treated as a large expiring contract.
The Thunder (who now sit at 38-11 after losing four of their last seven games) would obviously miss Hartenstein’s rebounding and general size, particularly in playoff matchups. But if they can flip him into a cheaper seven-footer (especially with their complicated long-term cap situation), Oklahoma City may have to seriously consider that.

Jon Gruden addresses rumor about joining Jets
Jon Gruden on Tuesday addressed a rumor that the New York Jets had approached him for some sort of role on the team’s offensive staff.
On Thursday’s edition of “The Drive with TKras” on 95.3 WDAE in Tampa, Gruden addressed claims that he rebuffed the Jets’ attempts to get him to join their staff. Gruden dismissed the claim as “ridiculous” and said he had never spoken to the Jets.
Today, Jon Gruden (@BarstoolGruden) shut down New York Jets coaching staff rumors with @TKras#WeAreTheKrewe pic.twitter.com/jWGdd5YPxv
— 95.3 WDAE & AM620 (@953WDAE) January 29, 2026
“There’s a lot of stupid rumors out there. Some of these reports are ridiculous,” Gruden said. “Let’s just say that there was never anything from the Jets and I wish them well in their search for a new offensive coordinator.”
Reports suggested the Jets had reached out to Gruden about a role with the team, but Gruden turned them down. That reported approach happened before the Jets fired offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand on Tuesday.
Gruden and those around him have made it clear in the past that he covets another chance to be a head coach at the NFL level. He may be waiting for a better opportunity, but either way, he pretty vehemently denied any interest in this role, or even receiving an approach.
Joe Flacco accomplishes a career 1st at age 41
At the age of 41, Joe Flacco has managed to accomplish something he had yet to achieve in his lengthy career.
Flacco on Friday was added to the Pro Bowl roster for the AFC, the Cincinnati Bengals confirmed. It marks the first Pro Bowl nod of his 18-year NFL career.
Flacco has entered the chat.

🔗: https://t.co/EI0FmnqS01 pic.twitter.com/ilvznZXa1D
Flacco is presumably replacing Josh Allen, who revealed that he has been dealing with a broken foot. Justin Herbert was the other AFC selection at quarterback.
Surprisingly, Flacco had never actually received this honor during his career. He won a Super Bowl and was the game’s MVP, and he went 96-67 during his career as the Baltimore Ravens’ starting quarterback. Despite that, he was never acknowledged with a Pro Bowl bid until now.
Flacco earned the nod based on his work with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he stepped in for Joe Burrow when Burrow was injured. In six starts, he threw for 1,664 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Amazingly, Flacco’s selection means two Cleveland Browns quarterbacks made the Pro Bowl this season, as Flacco started the season with them. That is quite remarkable for a team that went 5-12.
Major update emerges on Nikola Jokic’s status
The Joker is officially ready to drop down from the rafters again.
Injured Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic plans to return on Friday against the LA Clippers, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Jokic is also planning to play on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charania adds.
The three-time NBA MVP Jokic had missed the last month of action due to a hyperextended left knee. Jokic was injured on Dec. 29 against the Miami Heat when teammate Spencer Jones fell onto his knee during a defensive possession (see the video here).
Denver has actually done surprisingly well in Jokic’s absence. Ever since his injury, the Nuggets have gone 10-6 to keep themselves afloat at third in the Western Conference with a 32-16 overall record.
Jokic was averaging 29.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 11.0 assists per game before going down. He has already played in 32 games and now will still have an opportunity to just barely reach the 65-game threshold for NBA award eligibility (as the Nuggets have 34 games left in the regular season).
The problem for Denver is that they just got some brutal injury news on another key roster piece. But the impending return of the eight-time All-Star Jokic is thus a very welcome sight as the Nuggets look ahead to the final two-and-a-half months of the regular season.
New Browns coach had an intriguing message for Shedeur Sanders
New Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken had an intriguing comment to Shedeur Sanders when the two first met.
In a video released Friday by the Browns, Monken confessed that the Baltimore Ravens tried to draft Sanders last year when Monken was still their offensive coordinator. The Browns, of course, landed him in the fifth round instead.
“We tried to draft your a– last year, for God’s sake. It’s all worked out,” Monken said.
it all worked out@Bullseye_Event | #DawgPound pic.twitter.com/5UC9kjyZnv
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) January 30, 2026
We actually knew about this, but Monken left out an important point. While the Ravens wanted to draft Sanders, it was supposedly Sanders’ camp that told the team not to. Monken may have slyly alluded to that, as he also remarks to Sanders that “someday we’ll get a chance to talk about that.”
If Sanders’ goal was to be an NFL starter, things worked out for him. He did get the opportunity with the Browns, and even earned a controversial Pro Bowl bid. Lamar Jackson is locked in as Baltimore’s long-term starter, which is why Sanders was not interested in going there.
It remains to be seen if Sanders is going to get a chance as a starter under Monken’s new regime. Clearly, the coach had plans for him, though, which may work in Sanders’ favor.
Vikings make big change to their front office
The Minnesota Vikings have made a big change to their front office.
The Vikings announced on Friday that they have fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Adofo-Mensah had been on the job since 2022 and is being fired almost exactly four years after he was first hired by Minnesota.
The firing of Adofo-Mensah comes eight months after he received a contract extension from the team following their 14-3 season. Minnesota finished second in the NFC North last year despite their stellar record, and they lost in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams. This year, they went 9-8 and missed the playoffs. There may be some disappointment with young quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who was a first-round pick by the team in 2024.
The Vikings say that team executive Rob Brzezinski will lead them during the draft. They will look to hire a new GM after the draft.
“Following our annual end-of-season organizational meetings over the last several weeks and after careful consideration, we have decided it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations. These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for Kwesi’s contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future,” the Vikings said in a statement.
“Effective immediately, Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski will lead our operations through the 2026 NFL Draft. Rob brings tremendous credibility and experience, understands our roster and has the ability to build consensus and rely on the expertise of our personnel and coaches.
“After the draft, we intend to conduct a thorough search to identify our next general manager. Building a team that can contend for championships drives us every day, and we look forward to bringing our fans the success they so deserve.”

Twins part ways with team president 2 weeks before spring training
The Minnesota Twins abruptly fired their team president just two weeks before the team is due to report to spring training.
The Twins announced Friday that Derek Falvey, who has led baseball operations since October 2016, is departing the team. In a statement, the Twins asserted that the two sides had “mutually agreed to part ways.”
“Over the past several weeks, Derek and I had thoughtful and candid conversations about leadership, structure, and the future of the club,” Twins executive chair Tom Pohlad said in his own statement. “We reached a shared understanding that the needs of the organization are evolving and that a leadership transition is the best way to move forward.”
— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) January 30, 2026
The biggest shock of the decision is the timing. The Twins are highly unlikely to have wanted to make such a huge change this close to the start of the season, and suggests major upheaval behind the scenes.
Falvey’s Twins made the postseason four times on his watch, and won a playoff series by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2023 AL Wild Card series. Since then, things have gone downhill, and they culminated in one of the largest fire sales in recent memory at last year’s trade deadline.
Making things even stranger is the fact that Falvey led the Twins’ search for a new manager last October, which ended with a widely-criticized hire.
The Twins went 70-92 last season. Based on the chaos in the front office, there does not appear to be much reason for optimism that things are poised to improve anytime soon.
Mac Jones linked to 1 team on the trade market
Mac Jones may be parlaying his strong 2025 season into an opportunity for a starting gig elsewhere.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jones is “definitely on the radar” of the Minnesota Vikings for a potential offseason trade, Vikings writer Jason Harmon reported on Thursday. Harmon notes that Minnesota is still confident in their starting QB JJ McCarthy but that injuries remain a concern for him.
Jones, the 27-year-old former first-round pick, found new life this season with the 49ers. He was able to draw eight total starts in the regular season with Brock Purdy battling various health issues and went a very respectable 5-3 as San Francisco’s starter.
The ex-Pro Bowler Jones threw for a total of 2,151 yards and 13 touchdowns to six interceptions. He also gained a lot of respect from 49ers fans for some gritty performances down the stretch of the season.
As for the Vikings, their quarterback position was largely a disaster in 2025. McCarthy only played in 10 total games for them due to injuries, and backup QBs Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer were pretty nightmarish during their time in relief as well.
Jones is under contract next season at a total cap hit of $3.98 million. He even impressed Tom Brady over the course of the 2025 campaign and now appears to be drawing some legitimate interest from the Vikings as a potential 1B option to McCarthy.
Warriors’ possible trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo is revealed
The Golden State Warriors are considering a Hail Mary trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and now we know what that package might look like.
Golden State is willing to trade all of their available future first-round picks to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of an Antetokounmpo deal, Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo! Sports said this week on an episode of his self-titled podcast. Additionally, the Warriors are willing to add both Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga in the deal as well.
O’Connor also said that he considers Golden State to be the “frontrunner” right now for the former NBA MVP Antetokounmpo. He notes that the two sides have “mutual interest” and that the Warriors appear to have the strongest trade package to offer to the Bucks.
Butler, who is out for the season thanks to a torn ACL, would simply be contract filler at this point to try and match salaries with Antetokounmpo. But Kuminga, the 23-year-old forward who is making $22.5 million this season with a $24.3 million club option for next season, could have some real value to the Bucks.
That said, the real enticement for Milwaukee here would be the future draft capital. The Warriors own all of their future first-round picks through 2029, have a top-20 protected pick in 2030, and hold their own first-round picks in 2031 and 2032 as well. While Golden State would be barred under the Stepien Rule from trading away first-round picks in consecutive years (meaning that they can only max out at an offer of four picks for Antetokounmpo), those picks could be highly valuable assets given the Warriors’ aging core of Steph Curry, 37, and Draymond Green, 35.
Given the current reality of their roster, Golden State badly needs to maximize their window right now. Earlier in the week, Curry also reacted to the possibility of the Warriors trading for the 10-time All-Star Antetokounmpo.
Notable update emerges on Bradley Beal’s future
The LA Clippers got close to absolute zero from Bradley Beal this season, but they should be getting another bite at the apple next season.
Beal is expected to remain on the Clippers’ roster for the 2026-27 season, Law Murray of The Athletic reported on Thursday. The three-time All-Star Beal notably has a $5.6 million player option for next season.
After signing with the Clippers over the summer, Beal appeared in just six total games for the team, averaging 8.2 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. His season then came to an end in early November because of a hip fracture that required surgery.
In (presumably) picking up his $5.6 million player option for 2026-27, Beal will be making just above the projected $3.9 million minimum salary for players with 10 or more years of NBA experience (like Beal has). But due to his season-ending injury, Beal will need to lock in every extra dollar that he can at this point.
The greater question though is where Beal might fit in with the Clippers once he gets back next season. He will turn 33 years old in June, and severe hip injuries after often effectively career-enders for older NBA players.
On top of that, the Clippers, who got off to a horrible 6-21 start, are now one of the hottest teams in the league. They have won 16 of their last 19 games and now safely occupy a play-in spot at 22-24 overall. That has been in part due to the effective contributions they have gotten from younger wings like Kobe Sanders, Jordan Miller, and Cam Christie, all of whom have gotten extra run in the wake of Beal’s extended absence.
Beal was once a 30-ppg scorer, but his value has crashed over the last couple of years, especially after his failed tenure with the Phoenix Suns. While the Clippers’ stars were vocal over the summer about wanting Beal on the roster, he will likely be returning to a very uncertain situation for himself in Los Angeles next season.
Report: Karl-Anthony Towns is upset with the Knicks
Things are not going so great right now in The Big Apple for Big Purr.
New York Knicks star big man Karl-Anthony Towns developed “hard feelings” towards the team over the summer after they included him in Giannis Antetokounmpo trade proposals to the Milwaukee Bucks, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported Thursday. Amick adds that those feelings of resentment from Towns “remain to this day.”
This report comes with the Bucks seemingly inching closer to trading Antetokounmpo, who informed the team earlier this week that he is ready to move on. The Knicks have long been rumored to be atop Antetokounmpo’s wishlist, and they were indeed heavily linked to the former NBA MVP this past summer.
As for Towns, the five-time All-Star, he has really struggled to fit into the Knicks’ offensive gameplan this season under their first-year head coach Mike Brown. Towns is averaging a pedestrian 20.2 points per game and is also posting a career-worst 46.2 field goal percentage (along with a three-point percentage of 36.1 that is the lowest since his rookie season).
We even heard earlier this month that Towns might be sent packing in a trade completely separate from the whole Antetokounmpo situation. The word was that the Knicks had supposedly discussed a Towns trade with three new NBA teams.
Currently in Year 2 of a four-year, $224 million contract, Towns makes the most sense as a trade chip for New York in any potential big-money deal. With the Knicks also recently being linked to another former NBA All-Star on the trade market, Towns very much seems like a candidate to be moved ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
Nathaniel Hackett lands a new NFL coaching job
Nathaniel Hackett is headed back to the AFC East.
The ex-Denver Broncos head coach Hackett will be joining the Miami Dolphins, Dan Graziano of ESPN reported on Thursday. Hackett is set to serve as the quarterbacks coach on the staff of new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley.
The 46-year-old Hackett spent last season as a defensive analyst for the Green Bay Packers. Prior to that, he gained almost a decade of experience as an offensive coordinator (with the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Packers, and New York Jets) and also served as head coach of the Broncos during the 2022 season.
But Hackett has certainly earned a certain level of infamy during his NFL coaching career. He was a miserable 4-11 (.267) as the head coach of Denver before getting fired and oversaw bottom-10 offensive finishes during both of his seasons as Jets OC from 2023-24.
It also didn’t help that Hackett often appeared clueless on the sidelines over the last several years. He was regularly getting memed for his poor showings with the Jets and was once even seemingly ignored entirely by Aaron Rodgers during a game.
In Miami though, Hackett will be getting a chance to rebuild his reputation as an offensive coach. It remains to be seen however if one of the players whom Hackett will be working with as the new QBs coach is Tua Tagovailoa, who sounds very ready to move on from the Dolphins this offseason.
