Pete Crow-Armstrong addresses his profane interaction with White Sox fan

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is in some hot water for an interaction he had with a Chicago White Sox fan on Sunday.

Crow-Armstrong had words with the fan after failing to make a catch during Sunday’s game at Rate Field in Chicago, Ill. He confirmed the interaction after the game, saying a woman “decided to start talking s–t and I felt the need to say it back.”

Video emerged after the game, however, of Crow-Armstrong telling the fan to “suck my f—ing d–k, b—h.”

Hey @MLB @Cubs Come get your boy. “You suck my f*ckin d*ck b*tch” pic.twitter.com/3p7XCiI4hW

— Nate (@Username676357) May 17, 2026

Crow-Armstrong said Monday that while he did not necessarily regret talking back, he does regret his choice of words.

“I’m just bummed out about the word choice and that a bunch of little kids will find their way to social media and see that as well,” Crow-Armstrong said. “Again, poor word choice.”

Crow-Armstrong has already picked a fight with one fanbase this year. Now he has a second group that will be angry at him. Plus, this is, in general, a pretty bad look for the young outfielder.

Buffalo Sabres have unusual way of dealing with their home struggles

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Home ice has not been much of an advantage for the Buffalo Sabres during the NHL Playoffs this season. Now that they are facing a crucial Game 7 at home, they are responding by trying to make it feel like a road game.

The Sabres stayed in a hotel on Sunday night even though Monday’s Game 7 is at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center, according to Sportsnet’s Anna Dua. The Sabres have gone 5-1 on the road during the playoffs, but are just 2-4 in home games.

Sabres are 5-1 on the road and 2-4 at home these playoffs

— Anna Dua (@AnnaNoelleDua) May 18, 2026

The Sabres lost two of their three home games in their series against the Montreal Canadiens, but won two of the three games in Montreal. That included an 8-3 win on the road Saturday while facing elimination, even after the Canadiens scored on their first three shots.

The Sabres are in the playoffs for the first time since 2011, and their home crowds have been very raucous. Perhaps that has put too much pressure on the players, though one would think that kind of passion would be a positive.

On the bright side, since the game is in Buffalo, the Sabres will not have to deal with at least one issue that occasionally plagues road teams staying in hostile environments.

NBA players agree with LeBron James’ take on Memphis

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

LeBron James garnered attention last month when he publicly trashed the city of Memphis. What seemed harsh at the time appears to be a widely-held opinion within the NBA community.

The Athletic published its annual anonymous player survey on Monday and asked players a variety of questions, including which team they would place on their hypothetical no-trade list. The Memphis Grizzlies were a clear No. 1 with 35.8 percent of the vote.

The anonymous comments that came with the balloting made it clear those feelings had little to do with the team and was more about the city. One named Memphis as “a place I don’t want to live,” while another was even more blunt.

“It has nothing to do with the team. It’s the location of the team,” one anonymous player said.

This largely echoes what James said in April: Memphis is a bland city and the Grizzlies should just move to Nashville. Apparently, plenty of others endorse that opinion.

The Grizzlies looked like an up-and-coming team in the West a few years ago. Now they are coming off a 25-57 season and nobody seems to want to play in their home city.

Stephen A. Smith fires back at Jaylen Brown

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Stephen A. Smith and Jaylen Brown are officially beefing.

Smith had a fiery response to Brown’s latest jab, which saw the Boston Celtics forward dismiss the ESPN personality as a generator for clickbait. That did not sit well with Smith, who fired back on “First Take.”

“Jaylen Brown, be careful what you wish for. You really want me to start reporting on that level?” Smith said. Locker room? How the organization might think about you? How the city may feel about you? How Jayson Tatum may or may not feel about you? Sneaker deals? Endorsement deals? The list goes on and on. The season is over, bro. You’re on Twitch trying to do what I do and talking about me needing to step away. It makes no sense.”

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) May 18, 2026

Smith went on to claim that Brown was the one resorting to clickbait by using Smith’s name to garner attention.

Smith is using a well-worn playbook of his. When people have run afoul of him before, he has threatened to use his unnamed sources to make them look bad. Notably, he has never actually followed through on those threats.

It’s hard to imagine Smith has any exclusive information about Brown’s relationship with Tatum, which has been the subject of endless chatter over the years already. The status of his relationship with the Celtics has also received plenty of attention lately. Even if there is something behind Smith’s words, he isn’t really threatening to cover much new ground here.

Smith also responded to Brown earlier in the month when Brown told the ESPN star to retire. It remains to be seen if Brown will respond to these latest comments, but if he does, Smith will undoubtedly fire back.

Brandon Nimmo has cool gesture for opposing fan

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a cool gesture for a rival fan who helped him out.

Nimmo robbed Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez of a home run during Sunday’s game at Daikin Park in Houston, Tex. The notoriously low right field fence can pose a problem for outfielders as many fans try to reach over for fly balls, but Nimmo got a fairly cooperative group that allowed him to make the catch.

— Texas Rangers (@Rangers) May 17, 2026

This was not lost on Nimmo. Later Sunday, the fan revealed on Instagram that Nimmo brought him a signed baseball later in the game, completely with the inscription “Thanks 4 letting me go after it!”

— Jared Sandler (@JaredSandler) May 18, 2026

Nimmo did get rather fortunate. There have been some major controversies over potential fan interference in that part of the stadium over the years, but there was no question about whether Nimmo had the right to that one.

Sunday was a bad day for Houston in all facets. Nimmo’s catch came in an 8-0 Texas win that dropped the scuffling Astros to 19-29 on the season.

Shams Charania responds to criticism of his MVP report

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

A number of fans and even some media members were critical of ESPN’s Shams Charania for spoiling the outcome of the NBA MVP vote on Sunday, and now he is defending himself.

In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Charania admitted he was somewhat bewildered that his MVP spoiler was even a source of controversy. He essentially said his job is to report the news, and the MVP winner is major news.

“Part of me is like, ‘What are we talking about here?’” Charania said. “When I get news and get information, if I’ve vetted it like I did late Saturday night, early Sunday morning, when I have news 100 percent, no matter how big, no matter how small, and in this case, a very big accomplishment, … He’s in rarefied air. This is a massive story. When I get it, I vet it, and then my job is to report the news. That’s all I focus on. That’s what I wake up thinking about. That’s what I go to sleep thinking about.

“This isn’t the first time, necessarily, but it’s not going to be the last time that I’m just trying to do my job to the best of my ability.”

Shams explains himself:

"When I get it I vet it and then my job is to report the news. It's not gonna be the last time where I'm just gonna try to do my job to the best of my ability" https://t.co/iPvcEtGOGO pic.twitter.com/b9su9BwtI6

— Oh No He Didn't (@ohnohedidnt24) May 18, 2026

Charania essentially equates the MVP outcome to news of a major trade or free agent signing that he is obligated to report. They are not the same, however. It’s not as if the NBA pre-schedules announcement shows to reveal who is getting traded. There is an element of suspense and argument to awards outcomes that people just enjoy engaging in.

There is the additional angle that Prime was meant to exclusively announce the MVP winner on Sunday night, and did not seem happy that Charania stole their thunder. The NBA probably doesn’t love the fact that one of its broadcast partners was undermined by this.

As Charania says, though, he has no plans to stop doing things like this, for better or worse. The element of suspense isn’t his concern. It’s his job to report news no matter what.

Urban Meyer loses his bid to get $30 million from Jaguars

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Urban Meyer will not get the additional $30 million payoff he sought from the Jacksonville Jaguars stemming from his 2021 firing.

Meyer had taken the Jaguars to arbitration after being fired for cause, which the former coach challenged. On Monday, an arbitrator ruled against him, according to Brett McMurphy of On3. Because the Jaguars were found to have been within their rights to fire Meyer for cause, they will not have to pay out the remainder of the money they would have owed him.

Meyer’s Jaguars contract paid him roughly $9 million annually over five years. Because he was fired 13 games into the first season, the Jaguars could have been on the hook for as much as $36 million had they lost the arbitration case.

Though Meyer went 2-11 in his first 13 games as Jacksonville’s coach, the team lost patience with him due to other situations. He was infamously caught on video in a compromising position with a woman at a bar, and kicker Josh Lambo alleged that Meyer kicked him during the preseason. The Jaguars used those events as pretext to fire Meyer with cause.

There were plenty of other claims about Meyer acting ridiculously during his Jaguars tenure. The franchise is no doubt delighted that they will not have to pay him off any further.

Jamahl Mosley has landed a new head coach job

May 18, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Jamahl Mosley was not unemployed for long after being let go by the Orlando Magic.

Mosley has agreed to a five-year contract to coach the New Orleans Pelicans. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Pelicans see themselves as being at a similar point in development to where the Magic were when they hired Mosley, and believe he is the right coach to take them into the playoffs.

Sources said top Pelicans officials maintained consistent communication with Mosley since he was dismissed by the Magic on May 4 and the sides formally met in person last week at the NBA draft combine in Chicago.

The Pelicans believe the franchise is at a point similar to… https://t.co/GfaFWMCGeK

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) May 18, 2026

Mosley never actually got out of the first round as Orlando’s head coach, but he led the team there for three straight seasons. For a Pelicans franchise that has only made the postseason in two of the last eight seasons, that would qualify as a step forward.

The Pelicans have coveted Mosley for a while, indicating just how serious they were about landing him. He was clearly their No. 1 target, and it doesn’t appear that they even looked that hard at anyone else once he became available.

Mosley went 189-221 in five seasons coaching the Magic. While they did get progressively better during most of his tenure, he had fallen out with his star player and lost his job after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Fans called out the WNBA for snubbing Caitlin Clark

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

There is no bigger draw in the WNBA than Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, but the league seemingly failed to capitalize on her fame when it shared a graphic on social media to promote Sunday’s games.

The Fever had a night game against the Seattle Storm at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., and instead of Clark, the league used a photo of Indiana rookie guard Raven Johnson to market the showdown in the said graphic.

Do not disturb, the W is on today 😏

Fans were quick to call out the WNBA for choosing Johnson over Clark, who is undeniably the face of the Indiana franchise and a major reason women’s basketball has reached the popularity it enjoys today.

I've never seen a super star, face of a league, so disrespected by the league like the W is to Clark. The future will write books about this sad behavior

This is just moronic. This would be like the Celtics playing the Lakers back in the 80’s while promoting it on CBS with video of Quinn Buckner and Kurt Rambis.

The NBA didn’t F it up. You guys are idiots.

— Chris Miller (@cdm214) May 17, 2026

Perhaps the WNBA simply thought that it would be better to use the opportunity to give Johnson exposure in the ad rather than Clark, who doesn’t really need an introduction to fans. Johnson is a rookie selected by the Fever 10th overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft and isn’t quite a household name yet.

She’s got the potential to be a star someday, and from that angle, it makes some sense for the league to give her some shine over Clark, who’s already one of the most recognizable faces not just in the WNBA but in sports in general.

In any case, the Fever got the job done against Seattle, as they came away with an 89-78 victory, with Clark leading the way for Indiana with 21 points. Johnson came off the bench and scored 0 points with 1 assist and 3 turnovers.

Aaron Rai had a great quote about his wife after winning the PGA Championship

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Aaron Rai surprised the star-studded field at the 2026 PGA Championship to win the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday.

Not many saw Rai’s victory coming. Until Sunday, his only PGA Tour win was at the 2024 edition of the Wyndham Championship. He entered his start at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., ranked just 44th in the world.

But Sunday belonged to him, firing a 65 in the fourth round and making an unforgettable clutch 68-foot putt for a birdie on the 17th hole on his way to winning his first major championship.

After his momentous triumph, the 31-year-old Rai shared a special message for his wife, Gaurika Bishnoi. What he said about Bishnoi was as heartwarming as his improbable PGA Championship win.

“She’s been incredible. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I wouldn’t be here without her. Both as a companion, as a friend, as someone I’m sharing my life with, but also as a real support system for my game, Rai told reporters about his wife, via Cameron Jourdan of Golfweek.

Rai reminded everyone that Bishnoi is also a golfer, which allows her to provide unique insights that have helped him on his golf journey.

“She’s a professional golfer herself. So her mindset, her advice, her thoughts, whether it’s technique or the way I’m holding myself is absolutely invaluable. She encompasses so many different sides in her opinions.”

Having someone that close to him who also understands the intricacies of the sport from a professional player’s perspective is surely a luxury. Rai shared that he and Bishnoi had a long conversation on Saturday, crediting that talk as a major reason he won the event.

“We even had a conversation yesterday for probably 30 minutes in the car just before we got back to the hotel, just speaking a little bit about today. Again, some of the things that she mentioned in the conversations were really with me today. “Yeah, I really wouldn’t be here without her.”

Rai can continue to listen to any advice Bishnoi gives him going forward, now that there is clear, tangible proof of how valuable her tips are.

Canadiens fan goes viral for a bold act with security standing beside her

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Buffalo Sabres came to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on Saturday with no fear, but one Habs fan seemed even more daring.

A video of a female Canadiens supporter wearing a Montreal jersey went viral on Sunday, showing her inhaling vapor during the second period while watching the game from behind the Sabres bench. A member of the arena’s security personnel was just a few feet away from her, but she did not seem to mind at all. You can watch the video here.

The fan probably just wanted to ease some of the stress from watching the Canadiens struggle against Buffalo. Montreal scored three of the first four goals of the contest, but by the time the broadcast captured the woman vaping in the stands, the Canadiens were already behind by a couple of goals. When it was all said and done on the ice, Buffalo topped the home team 8-3 to force a Game 7.

That woman and every Canadiens fan are on pins and needles, as Montreal blew a chance to close out the Sabres series at home. Now, Montreal has to avoid a complete collapse after being up 2–1 and 3–2 in the series, with Game 7 set to be played Monday at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

Aaron Judge tells the truth about losing to the Mets

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The New York Yankees were so close to winning their first Subway Series against the New York Mets since 2018, but their attempt to complete that mission was foiled again on Sunday.

The Yankees had a three-run lead entering the ninth inning of their series finale versus the Mets at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y., but that advantage evaporated when closer David Bednar allowed a game-tying two-out home run to outfielder Tyrone Taylor.

The Mets completed their thrilling comeback when rookie outfielder Carson Benge walked it off with a game-winning grounder.

Superstar slugger Aaron Judge rued another Yankees misfortune against the Mets.

“There were a couple of close games, but it’s about finishing the job,” Judge said, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“There were a couple of games here where we’ve got to close it out. The boys are playing hard, though. The guys are playing tough and making the plays they need to, but we’re just coming up a little bit short.”

The Yankees took the series opener, 5-2, on Friday before the Mets won the second game, 6-3, on Saturday.

Interestingly enough, Sunday’s victory was the Mets’ first when trailing behind through eight innings in 92 games, a stretch that dated back to the team’s 2024 National League Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Judge might have changed the outcome of the game if he hadn’t gone 0-for-4 in the series finale.

Bednar was the easy target for the Yankees’ loss, but they also went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Video: Donovan Mitchell’s fiancee had a Game 7 scare

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Donovan Mitchell had an unexpected interaction with his fiancée, Coco Jones, during Sunday’s Game 7 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons.

Jones was among the thousands in attendance to watch the Cavs and the Pistons go at it in the finale of their second-round series at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. During a moment in the contest, Mitchell nearly crashed into Jones, who was seated near the baseline, after being fouled by Pistons forward Ausar Thompson.

Fortunately for Jones, her reflexes were quick enough to prevent Mitchell from completely landing on her, as she extended her arm to help break the Cavs star’s fall.

Here is the video of the interaction.

Mitchell seemed too focused on the game that he barely checked on Jones, giving her only a quick glance before getting back to the court. Jones, meanwhile, smiled it off, though she also appeared to be a bit surprised by what happened.

She and Mitchell later had a bigger reason to smile, as the Cavaliers completed a second-round upset win over the Pistons, with Cleveland taking Game 7, 125-94.

After scoring 26 points on 10/22 shooting from the field in the series-clincher versus Detroit, Mitchell will look to lead the Cavs in the Eastern Conference finals against the New York Knicks.

Ausar Thompson leaves a bold message after getting knocked out by the Cavs

May 18, 2026 by Rex Villas

It’s going to take some time before Ausar Thompson completely moves on from the painful ending of the Detroit Pistons’ 2025-26 NBA campaign.

The Pistons’ dream of winning an NBA title in 2026 was dashed on Sunday, as Thompson and company were embarrassed at home in a 125-94 loss in Game 7 of their second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thompson did not hide his true feelings about the Pistons’ season-ending defeat at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.

“No, I’m not forgetting. I’m not forgetting. I mean, that series, that felt personal,” Thompson said after the game, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.

“So, I’m not forgetting it. I remember.”

Detroit won the first two games of the Cavs series, but Cleveland responded with three consecutive victories to take a 3-2 lead. The Pistons forced a Game 7 with a road win in Game 6.

With a homecourt advantage, Detroit was poised to finish off the Cavs and move on to the Eastern Conference finals. But the Pistons came out flat in Game 7 and never recovered, as Cleveland ran away with the series-clinching victory.

Thompson scored just 5 points on 2/7 shooting, and while he made his presence felt on defense with 7 rebounds (6 defensive) and 2 blocks, that still barely made an impact against Cleveland’s offensive juggernaut.

Fans pile on Cade Cunningham for his second-half no-show in Game 7

May 17, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Several fans put Cade Cunningham on blast for his disappearing act after halftime of Game 7 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cunningham was the lone player in double figures after two quarters in the deciding game of the Eastern Conference semifinals clash at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The Pistons star tallied 12 points, and his team needed far more from him as they trailed 64-47 at halftime.

Cunningham, however, would not give his team much more in the second half. He did not score a single field goal the rest of the way, going 0/6 from the field. The only point he scored came after a technical foul was called on Cavaliers forward Max Strus.

Fans let Cade hear it after the Pistons got embarrassed in a 124-95 drubbing — a loss that had some fans calling Detroit the worst No. 1 seed ever.

“That game sucked,” Cunningham told reporters in his final press conference. “Being back home, definitely wanted to get this win in front of the fans. Reminded me of last year, losing on home court. It’s not a great feeling.”

“I hadn’t been thinking about the offseason. So my mind’s been racing now, trying to figure out what I’ve got to do, what it’s going to look like.”

Cunningham had a banner year as the best player on the East’s No. 1 seed, averaging 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 9.9 assists. He earned another All-Star berth, received a few MVP votes, and is likely to be named to an All-NBA team for a second consecutive season.

However, Cade has yet to turn his regular-season accolades into the type of postseason success commensurate of a true contender.

Donovan Mitchell’s old prediction resurfaces after beating Pistons in Game 7

May 17, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao

Donovan Mitchell proved he was a man of his word on Sunday as he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Mitchell powered his team to a resounding 125-94 victory over the Detroit Pistons in Game 7 in front of a stunned home crowd at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The 7-time All-Star poured in a game-high 26 points on 10/22 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

With the victory, Mitchell’s old quote from last year’s playoffs resurfaced online. The Cavaliers guard promised that his team would be back to silence their doubters in an emotional final press conference.

“We’re a good team,” Mitchell told reporters in 2025 after the 1-seed Cavaliers got upset by the Indiana Pacers.

“For four games, we didn’t show what we’re capable of. And ultimately, that’s what we’re judged on. … Y’all gonna write us the f–k off, man. But will be back. We let the city down, we let each other down, but we will be back.”

Mitchell and the Cavs did come back in a big way, overcoming a 9-point effort from James Harden to get to the conference finals. It’s the first time in Mitchell’s career that he has gotten one series away from the NBA Finals.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert never lost hope in his team. The billionaire shelled out a ton of money to get Cavs fans in the building for the contest, covering travel expenses to bring fans on the road with the team. Mitchell and Co. made sure to give those fans something to cheer about.

Shams Charania just made himself some pretty high-profile enemies.

The ESPN reporter irked fans and media members alike on Sunday when he broke the news that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had won his second consecutive NBA MVP award. Charania shared the news on X hours before the official announcement.

The award announcement was supposed to be made on NBA on Prime before Charania played the role of spoiler. The trio of Taylor Rooks, Dirk Nowitzki, and Blake Griffin piled on Shams during their live telecast.

Rooks: “Just to be clear, the official MVP announcement is happening here. Dirk and Steve, you both won MVPs—but I don’t remember Shams spoiling it.”

Nowitzki: “I don’t think he was around. He was a baby.”

Griffin: “What are we doing, man? Like it’s Sunday, Shams. Go to brunch, you nerd. Come on!”

SGA’s MVP win was a monumental moment for the Thunder star. He became just the 14th player in NBA history to win the plum in back-to-back seasons. He’s also just eight wins away from becoming a back-to-back NBA champion and likely Finals MVP, which would put him on an even shorter list.

Luckily for sports fans, Charania cannot spoil who wins the NBA Finals just yet. But the 32-year-old Chicago native probably would if he could.

The Detroit Pistons just gave their doubters all the ammunition they needed heading into the offseason.

The Pistons entered Sunday’s clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers as the favorites to win Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. But the Pistons looked overmatched in what turned into a 125-94 blowout loss in front of their home fans.

Detroit trailed 64-47 at halftime. Instead of coming back after the break, the Pistons’ vaunted defense allowed 99 points across three quarters. A technical foul called during the quarter break allowed the Cavaliers to hit the century mark before the start of the fourth quarter.

Fans piled on the Pistons during and after the game, with many calling Detroit the worst No. 1 seed ever.

Detroit Pistons might be the worst #1 seed that I’ve ever seen

Cade Cunningham finished with just 13 points on 5/16 shooting. His All-NBA running mate, Jalen Duren, tallied 7 points and 9 rebounds. None of the Pistons scored more than 17 points in Game 7.

To the Pistons’ credit, they at least managed to avoid a first-round series upset at the hands of the Orlando Magic. That probably absolves them from the title of worst No. 1 seed ever. But it didn’t help Detroit’s case that the team had to come back from down 3-1 to beat Orlando.

Jaylen Brown has profane message for Stephen A. Smith

Jaylen Brown had zero love lost for Stephen A. Smith on the former’s latest live stream.

The Boston Celtics star called out Smith on Sunday for being a clickbait artist rather than a real journalist. Brown went live on Twitch and challenged Smith to “get off” ESPN entirely.

“F–k Stephen A. … My offer still stands,” Brown said to his viewers, in a message he was extending to Smith.

“You want me to be quiet and stop streaming? Well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks, because you’re not using your platform to do real journalism. You’re using your platform to use clickbait.”

The message from Brown was the latest chapter in what has been a public feud with Smith over the last few weeks. The online beef stemmed from the ESPN personality criticizing the Celtics forward for his comments one day after Boston lost Game 7 of its first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

In the post-Game 7 stream, Brown claimed the 2025-26 campaign was his “favorite year of my basketball career.” Smith slammed Brown for making such a statement not long after blowing a 3-1 lead to an underdog Sixers squad.

While Brown probably won’t be listening to Smith anytime soon, the Celtics swingman has gotten into a lot of trouble for various comments he’s made on live streams throughout the year. But for a vocal personality like Brown, the heat may be worth it if it means getting to speak his mind.

Fred VanVleet addresses Kevin Durant’s ‘curse’ amid burner account accusations

Fred VanVleet believes Kevin Durant may be his own worst enemy when it comes to drawing negative attention from the media.

Durant became a lightning rod of controversy in his first season with the Houston Rockets when a social media account allegedly belonging to Durant was leaked. The account heavily criticized Durant’s Rockets teammates, which reportedly served as a “significant distraction” to Houston late in the season.

In the latest episode of his “Unguarded” podcast, VanVleet was asked about the role Durant’s alleged burner accounts played in the Rockets’ unceremonious end to the 2025-26 campaign. VanVleet kept things cryptic at first, claiming “lies” were “more appealing than the truth.” The Rockets guard then spoke about the “curse” Durant carries.

“I think that the gift and the curse with KD is that he’s so open,” VanVleet said of Durant.

“He’s so authentic and he’s so approachable, and he’s so him that it leaves room for the f–king clowns to jump in and add their own twist on the s–t, and then if he doesn’t come out and directly say no or go against that, which is what they want. There’s just so much room for like clickbait farming and s–t like that when it comes to him. He makes it easy for that.”

VanVleet also compared Durant to Kawhi Leonard, with whom Fred won a championship on the Toronto Raptors in 2019. He said Leonard kept to himself due to his personality and remained unbothered by negative media attention. Durant was the opposite, constantly responding to every controversy involving his name.

With VanVleet suffering a torn ACL before the start of this season, Durant lost a veteran peer in a Rockets locker room filled with young, unproven talent. Perhaps with VanVleet back in the lineup next season, Durant may not feel the need to subtweet his teammates any more — allegedly.
