Aaron Rodgers makes a final decision on his 2026 future

May 16, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Aaron Rodgers is going to be sticking with the Pittsburgh Steelers after all.

The future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback will be running it back with the AFC North franchise after agreeing to a new contract with the Steelers.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rodgers’ new deal with Pittsburgh is for a year and worth up to $25 million. The base salary is said to be between $22 and $23 million.

Although most signs in recent days and weeks pointed to Rodgers eventually reuniting with the Steelers, this report squashes any remaining rumors about the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player’s future in 2026.

Now that the biggest item on their offseason checklist has finally been checked off, the Steelers can focus more on preparing for the 2026 campaign, which will also be their first in the post-Mike Tomlin era.

With Rodgers coming back, he and Mike McCarthy can hunt for their second Super Bowl title together. They won their first one as a head coach-quarterback tandem back in 2011 with the Green Bay Packers by defeating, interestingly enough, their current employers.

It remains to be seen just how effective the 42-year-old Rodgers can still be on the field, but barring a sharp decline from his 2025 performance, he can be expected to provide a solid presence under center. In his first season with the Steelers, he threw for 3,322 passing yards and 23 touchdowns with 7 interceptions on a 65.7% completion rate.

Fernando Mendoza turns heads after going the extra mile for a fan

May 16, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

By most accounts, Fernando Mendoza is a good guy. He proved that again with a simple gesture that one fan will not forget for the rest of his life.

During the NFLPA Rookie Premiere, the Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback, wearing his No. 15 Raiders jersey, threw a ball to a fan, who failed to secure the catch.  Mendoza could have easily just laughed it off and moved on from it, but he decided to give the fan another shot.

Fortunately for Mendoza, the fan and everyone watching the interaction, the fan was able to complete the catch on the second try.

Here is the video of Mendoza’s moment with the fan.

Fernando Mendoza is all about second chances pic.twitter.com/qUIfaMrQAm

— Gilberto Manzano (@GManzano24) May 16, 2026

Selected first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Mendoza is expected to elevate Las Vegas, which has won just seven games over the last two seasons.

It is going to take more than just hype for the former Indiana Hoosiers quarterback to help turn things around for the franchise, but at least he seems to be someone who doesn’t make it hard for Raiders supporters to love him.

At the same time, Mendoza and his Raiders wide receivers need to build a better connection on passing plays than what he and the fan had in that lighthearted moment.

Paige Bueckers thinks Steph Curry is elite at one unexpected skill

May 16, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Steph Curry is widely regarded as the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen, but Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers believes there is another aspect of his game in which the Golden State Warriors guard is elite, if not the best overall.

Bueckers was recently asked by Melissa Triebwasser of The IX Sports about her ability to draw attention from opposing defenses, and the former UConn Huskies guard responded by discussing how Curry significantly influences possessions even without the ball in his hands, specifically his role as a screener.

“Being able to get off of it and being able to be a screener. I mean, if you watch Steph Curry, he’s probably the best screener in the NBA, and he has the best gravity in the NBA, so it’s a sort of mimic after him, and his off-ball movements, his off-ball screen, and his selflessness is something that I’ve actually learned from a lot, Bueckers said.

Bueckers is having a terrific individual start to the 2026 WNBA season, her second in the league. Through three games, she has averaged 20.7 points on 57.1% shooting from the field and 54.5% from beyond the arc.

But the Wings are just 1-2 so far, suggesting Dallas needs more than Bueckers’ high-scoring, efficient offense to win games.

In any case, Bueckers is studying the right NBA player as she tries to become an even more dangerous weapon for the Wings.

Julius Randle accused of questionable move after Timberwolves’ loss

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Julius Randle drew criticism for his performance in the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs, and might not have done himself any favors after it ended either.

The Timberwolves conducted their exit interviews with the media on Saturday, one day after their season-ending 139-109 loss to the Spurs at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Every rotation player spoke with the media to wrap up the season except for Randle.

Julius was the only rotation guy not to do an exit interview, that’s all I can say lol

— Andrew Dukowitz (@adukeMN) May 16, 2026

Randle may have an entirely justifiable reason for skipping out on interviews. In light of how he performed against the Spurs, though, it is a bad look.

Victor Wembanyama’s presence largely shut Randle down on the interior during the series. After averaging 21.1 points per game in the regular season, he could only muster 12.8 points per game in the six-game series. With the Timberwolves already shorthanded due to injuries, they needed much more from him than what he gave them.

Randle has two years remaining on his 3-year, $100 million deal. The Timberwolves may want to move him, but that might be easier said than done.

Oli Marmol bought tickets for an entire section of shirtless Cardinals fans

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The St. Louis Cardinals have been a pleasant surprise to start the MLB season, and their secret weapon appears to be a shirtless club baseball team.

The Cardinals had a surprisingly raucous atmosphere at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. for Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. The catalysts appeared to be the Stephen F. Austin club baseball team, who are taking part in the Club Baseball Division II World Series in nearby Alton, Ill. The Cardinals offered them free tickets for Friday’s game, and a large group accepted, showed up, and promptly removed their shirts and started twirling them over their heads.

Their energy quickly spread throughout the crowd, and by the time the Cardinals walked it off in the 11th, everyone had taken notice of them.

— MLB (@MLB) May 16, 2026

After the game, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol praised the group and said he would do whatever it took to bring them back for the rest of the weekend.

“Whoever started that in right field, I’ll do whatever I need to do to make sure they come every game, because that was awesome,” Marmol told reporters. “Not only them, but everybody that showed up today. That was a fun environment.”

Marmol made good on his word. The Cardinals manager bought up the entire section’s worth of tickets. On Saturday, Stephen F. Austin won their baseball game and then arrived in the fourth inning to do it again.

The Cardinals beat the Royals again on Saturday, and the enthusiastic team was rewarded by being brought into the clubhouse afterward.

The Cardinals now sit at 27-18 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for them. Instead, they are looking like a contender, and Marmol probably wishes he could keep these guys in St. Louis for the entire season.

Nike roasted Anthony Edwards after his playoff exit

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Anthony Edwards caught some heat from Nike after his Minnesota Timberwolves were knocked out of the NBA Playoffs on Friday.

After the Timberwolves’ season-ending loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Nike shared an image on social media that was clearly aimed at Edwards. It mocked Edwards’ “Believe That” slogan by instead stating “Believe This,” accompanied by Victor Wembanyama’s alien logo.

https://t.co/VtDIc0Rfyg pic.twitter.com/Tv0DXPUHuq

— Nike Basketball (@nikebasketball) May 16, 2026

Edwards is signed to Adidas, so Nike is more than happy to take its shots. Wembanyama, obviously, is a Nike athlete, and after how he dominated the series, they barely even need to promote him. The graphic doesn’t feature his name, but it doesn’t need to.

It has been a rough 24 hours for Edwards in more ways than one. Beyond the loss, the way he existed Friday’s game drew widespread criticism. Still, he had a decent enough series, averaging 23.7 points per game over the six-game series. He just did not get a lot of help from his teammates, particularly Julius Randle, who was held to 12.8 points per game.

Edwards is not the first to be trolled by Nike during these playoffs. He at least has some company.

Anthony Richardson explains why not being traded is a ‘blessing in disguise’

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson asked to be traded this offseason, but did not ultimately get the move he was looking for. Despite that, he does not seem bothered by it.

Richardson spoke to the media at his high school jersey retirement ceremony and said it was a “blessing in disguise” that he was still with the Colts. The team allowed him to show up to voluntary OTAs and get some work in, which he was pleased about.

“The Colts are still giving me a chance to go out there and work, work hard and potentially get on the field,” Richardson said, via Scott Horner and Kevin Brockway of the Indianapolis Star. “Glad to be able to stay in the NFL and put the work in. Just showing up at OTAs, it was a blessing in disguise for me because I just wanted to work and they allowed me to do that so I’m thankful for that.”

Richardson was linked to a few teams during the offseason, but they ultimately went in different directions when it came to finding a backup quarterback. For now, it appears he will remain with the Colts for the foreseeable future, though strictly as Daniel Jones’ backup.

Richardson has played in 17 NFL games but has thrown for just 11 touchdowns against 13 interceptions. The 23-year-old remains immensely talented physically, but is running out of time to put it all together.

Paul Pierce has bizarre reason for thinking LeBron James should retire

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Paul Pierce thinks LeBron James should retire, but his reasoning behind that stance is a bit strange.

In a recent appearance on Kevin Garnett’s “KG Certified” podcast, Pierce voiced his opinion that James should call it quits now and not play another season. He believes James gets too much criticism and should just walk away from it.

“I think LeBron should retire,” Pierce said. “Just for the simple fact that at (his) age, he still receives the criticism that he still does. The greats weren’t getting this criticism. Nobody was criticizing Kobe when he wasn’t going to the playoffs in his last year. They were just enjoying his moments. Same with Jordan in Washington.”

James does receive his share of criticism, but there is an argument to be made that he is a better player now than Bryant and Jordan were in their final seasons. Plus, if James did decide to announce in advance that he was playing his final year as Bryant did, the way he is talked about might change. James, however, seems indifferent to that.

The biggest difference between James and the players Pierce is comparing him to, however, is the teams they were on. Bryant played his final season on a young rebuilding Lakers team that won just 17 games. James is playing with a team that also features Luka Doncic and has made clear that it expects to contend for championships. When expectations are higher, there will inevitably be more scrutiny.

It is not clear whether James will retire this offseason, but if he does, it probably won’t be for the reasons Pierce thinks he should. It is possible that he leaves the Lakers given how fed up he appears to be with some aspects of the organization.

Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson is being linked to 1 team in free agency

May 16, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Mitchell Robinson may be able to parlay his team’s second straight Eastern Conference Finals run into a big payday elsewhere.

The Sacramento Kings are seen as a threat to sign the New York Knicks center Robinson in free agency this summer, Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reported this week. Bondy notes that Kings general manager Scott Perry used to hold the same position with the Knicks and that Perry was even responsible for drafting Robinson to New York back in 2018.

Robinson, still only 28, is the Knicks’ longest-tenured player and has been with them for eight seasons now. After struggling badly with injuries in seasons past, Robinson enjoyed a fairly healthy 2025-26 regular season, averaging 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in a primarily second-unit role.

The seven-footer Robinson has also continued to make an impact during the playoffs. He has put up 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in just 14.4 minutes per game and also leads all players this postseason with a field goal percentage of 76.9.

As for the Kings, they were one of the worst teams in the NBA this season at 22-60. Domantas Sabonis, Maxine Raynaud, and impending free agent Precious Achiuwa comprised their frontcourt rotation this year, so Sacramento could really benefit from adding a seasoned true center like Robinson to the mix.

Robinson will be an unrestricted free agent himself this offseason. The Knicks would probably like to keep him (especially given Robinson’s knack for impressive highlights this postseason), but there will definitely be some competition there.

JB Bickerstaff had an intriguing comment about James Harden

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Detroit Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff raised some eyebrows with a remark he made about James Harden’s foul-baiting.

Bickerstaff was an assistant coach for the Rockets from 2011 to 2015 and worked with Harden, and divulged Friday that the Cleveland Cavaliers guard actually practices his foul-baiting. Bickerstaff said Harden would even bait him into fouls when practicing one-on-one.

“He’s got an unbelievable ability to manipulate what the rules are,” Bickerstaff said. “We were together four years in Houston and he and I would play one-on-one, and he would foul-bait me. He would practice those things and he would work on them, even just playing one-on-one versus me. He has a great understanding of the rules and how to manipulate them in his favor.”

J.B. Bickerstaff on James Harden: "He has an unbelievable ability to manipulate what the rules are. We would play 1 on 1 when I coached in Houston and he would foul bait me."

This is freaking hilarious.
Well, he is 'The System' after all.

Via:https://t.co/cBYkUzqsKH pic.twitter.com/JG5cOxfJzS

— MrBuckBuck (@MrBuckBuckNBA) May 16, 2026

To be clear, Bickerstaff meant that as praise. He understands better than most what Harden tries to do and accepts that some of his players will inevitably fall victim to it.

Harden has long had a reputation for being one of the best in the league at drawing fouls. Whether that is a skill to be praised and rewarded is a different question, but he has used it to great effect throughout his career. It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is an actual skill that he practices along with everything else.

There are still times Harden’s flopping doesn’t work or has unintended consequences. Don’t expect it to change his ways as long as it still works, though.

Justin Jefferson has a clear hope for Vikings’ QB battle

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson really hopes the team’s quarterback battle this year is the last they will have for a while.

Jefferson appeared on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” on Friday and was asked what he was hoping to see from the Vikings’ quarterback battle this season. He said he just wants to see good competition, and ideally, for someone to permanently seize the job.

“I want that, for sure,” Jefferson said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “It’s definitely difficult for those types of things to happen. But just like me being with Kirk (Cousins) for those first four years of my career, just building on that connection, building on that relationship, that’s something that’s unbroken. That’s something that you just don’t find anywhere.

“It definitely would be great to have a quarterback — the same quarterback — for these next couple years going down the line. But we already know that’s something that’s very difficult to do in this league.”

If Kyler Murray wins the job, Jefferson will be on his fourth quarterback in as many seasons. Impressively, his numbers have remained solid, though he only barely cracked the 1,000 yard mark last season.

Jefferson has made it clear that he wishes the Vikings had just committed to Sam Darnold instead of moving on and giving the job to JJ McCarthy. He can only hope someone, whether it is Murray or someone else, can perform similarly going forward.

Pete Crow-Armstrong signed the strangest autograph for a fan

May 16, 2026 by Darryn Albert

Pete Crow-Armstrong apparently believes that if you’re not first, you’re last.

The Chicago Cubs star outfielder Crow-Armstrong went viral this week for his highly unusual encounter with a fan. Crow-Armstrong was signing autographs for fans ahead of the team’s crosstown rivalry game on Friday against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field in Chicago, Ill.

The Cubs posted a video of Crow-Armstrong signing an autograph for one particular fan … on the fan’s forehead. Crow-Armstrong obliged the request from the fan and signed his noggin with (fittingly) blue ink.

Here is the video.

— Jomboy Media (@JomboyMedia) May 16, 2026

The 2025 All-Star Crow-Armstrong finished Friday’s game 1/5 with an RBI and two strikeouts, so it was a mixed bag whether the pregame forehead signing ended up being good luck for him. Still, there is (at least a little bit of) precedent here as both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Caitlin Clark have had similar stunts in the recent past.

But this might be the very first instance we have seen of a baseball star doing such a cranium signing. At least we know that the recipieint was not a Dodgers fan (because Crow-Armstrong really does not care for those).

Paige Bueckers-Azzi Fudd moment during game draws attention

May 16, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Dallas Wings are not having a good time right now.

Dallas dropped their second straight game on Thursday, losing by a final score of 90-86 to the Minnesota Lynx (who remain without star player Napheesa Collier due to recovery from ankle surgery). The loss put the Wings at 1-2 on the young season.

In the closing stages of the fourth quarter at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, Wings star Paige Bueckers subbed out of the game. She was joined on the bench by her teammate and girlfriend Azzi Fudd.

As the loss became inevitable, Bueckers could not help but stare off into space blankly. That led to Fudd looking over at Bueckers and having to ask her, “You good?”

Paige disassociating but now Azzi is there to ask if she good pic.twitter.com/FIvUXTcpM5

— j (@thearkvi) May 15, 2026

Bueckers, 24, and Fudd, 23, were teammates in college at UConn and went public with their relationship last year. Now the two have been reunited on the Wings, to whom they went with the No. 1 overall picks in back-to-back years (Bueckers in 2025 and Fudd in 2026).

Dallas tied for the worst record in the WNBA last season and had the WNBA’s second-worst record back in 2024. Bueckers already had to speak out last month on her relationship with Fudd, but more questions will surely arise if the Wings continue to lose this season.

Aroldis Chapman had a troubling mistake on his uniform during game

May 16, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Aroldis Chapman had an extremely unfortunate error on his uniform during Friday’s game.

Chapman and the Boston Red Sox played Friday against the Atlanta Braves. The veteran reliever Chapman came into pitch during the ninth inning at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass. and ended up making headlines for the wrong reasons.

Armed Forces Day was celebrated nationwide on Saturday and teams around Major League Baseball were wearing American flag patches on their caps all throughout the weekend to commemorate the occasion. But Chapman’s patch was unfortunately a little bit off.

Viewers noticed that the American flag patch on Chapman’s hat was upside down. Take a look.

Aroldis Chapman with his flag turned upside down on the cap pic.twitter.com/77NT3MojuE

— Coconut Head (@JohnnyDoGud) May 16, 2026

An upside-down flag is acceptable only in extreme circumstances. According to the U.S. flag code, the American flag should not be displayed upside down except to signal “dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life and property.” That said, others have used an upside-down flag before as a protest gesture.

The eight-time All-Star Chapman, a native of Cuba, pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the Red Sox, but the team still lost to the Braves by a final of 3-2 in 10 innings. Chapman has sparked plenty of controversy in years past with his off-the-field behavior and also created another controversy during Friday’s game with his upside-down flag patch.

Spencer Jones had heartbreaking reaction to Clay Holmes’ injury

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

New York Yankees designated hitter Spencer Jones was responsible for the line drive that broke Mets pitcher Clay Holmes’ leg Friday night, and he had a pretty crushing reaction when he learned about it.

Jones’ 111 MPH line drive drilled Holmes in the leg during the fourth inning of Friday’s game at Citi Field in New York, N.Y. While Holmes initially stayed in the game, he was later diagnosed with a fractured fibula and will be out indefinitely (video here).

Jones only learned about the severity of Holmes’ injury when he was asked about it by reporters after the game. He looked genuinely upset to learn what had happened.

“That’s the first I’ve heard that,” Jones said. “I’m sorry. He’s a friend of mine. We work out in Nashville together. That’s tough to hear.”

“I’m sorry. He’s a friend of mine, we workout together in Nashville so that’s tough to hear.”

Obviously, Jones was just doing his job, and the whole thing is an unfortunate accident. His instant reaction made it very clear that he was deeply upset to learn what had happened.

Jones has been a top prospect in the Yankees’ system for a while now, and has been known for hitting the ball very far. The Mets would probably be better off had he done that to Holmes instead of what actually happened.

ABC accidentally disrespects Pistons with Eastern Conference Final promo

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

ABC accidentally aired a promo for the upcoming Eastern Conference Finals that the Detroit Pistons will not be happy with.

At one point on Saturday, the network accidentally aired a prepared promo for an Eastern Conference Finals matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks, complete with a Sunday start date. That is in spite of the fact that the Pistons’ Game 6 win on Friday kept the series alive and extended it to seven games.

ABC wants to get you hyped up for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Knicks and the… Cavaliers? pic.twitter.com/YLj9NvDXTA

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) May 16, 2026

Obviously, these commercials are prepared ahead of time, and the network had this ready for the very real possibility that the Cavaliers closed out the series on Friday. They just are not supposed to make it to air until the matchup is official, which it very much isn’t.

The Cavaliers had the opportunity to close out Detroit on Friday and make the matchup with the Knicks a reality. Detroit, however, controlled the game and handed the Cavaliers their first home loss of the postseason with a 115-94 road victory.

The Pistons already have been feeling like they’re getting the short end of the stick in some ways during this series. This was just an accident, but some of their players might notice it and use it as fuel anyway.

Anthony Edwards has blunt comment about Timberwolves’ future

May 16, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Anthony Edwards sent something of a message to the Minnesota Timberwolves after the team was eliminated from the NBA Playoffs on Friday evening.

The Timberwolves fell to the San Antonio Spurs 139-109 in the Western Conference Semifinals at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The nature of the defeat raised questions about what the team will have to do to keep pace in an increasingly loaded conference.

Edwards was asked that question after the game, and his non-answer seemed to be a message to the front office as much as anything else.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t think that’s a question for me,” Edwards said.

"How much work do you guys have to do going forward here to catch up in the Western Conference and to contend again?"

"I don't know, man. I think that, I don't think that's a question for me." pic.twitter.com/CPl9Pgj5R8

— Jonah (@Huncho_Jman) May 16, 2026

The question, then, goes to the Timberwolves front office. Edwards is an elite player, but his teammates did not have enough firepower to match up with the Spurs in this series. Some of that was surely down to injuries, but it is true that the Timberwolves lacked a consistent second option with Julius Randle struggling as much as he did.

Edwards himself drew some criticism for how he handled himself at the end of the series, too. His team has a lot of questions to answer moving forward.

Caitlin Clark finds unlikely ally amid Morgan Wallen backlash

May 16, 2026 by Dan Benton
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark walked out with country artist Morgan Wallen during his May 10 concert at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The appearance came hours after the Fever’s 107-104 loss to the Dallas Wings, in which Clark recorded 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

Wallen faced criticism in 2021 after a video showed him using a racial slur, for which he later apologized.

Some WNBA fans and commentators questioned Clark’s participation in the concert walkout tradition, citing Wallen’s history and the league’s predominantly Black player base.

Commentator Jemele Hill recently addressed the backlash and appeared to take an unexpected stance.

She asked why Clark received criticism when male athletes, including Peyton Manning, Travis Kelce, Myles Garrett, Marshawn Lynch, and Patrick Mahomes, had performed the same walkout with Wallen without a similar reaction.

On the latest episode of SPOLITICS Live, I ask why Caitlin Clark is getting smoke for walking out with country star Morgan Wallen at his concert when Peyton Manning, Travis Kelce, Myles Garrett, Marshawn Lynch, and many other male athletes have done the exact same thing…

— Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) May 13, 2026

Hill stated that policing entertainment choices leads to hypocrisy because no one meets a strict purity test. She noted that other WNBA players had attended concerts by artists with controversial histories, including Chris Brown.

“I don’t know that we want to play this game about policing people’s entertainment. Because I’m telling you nobody gonna hold up,” Hill said on the Flagrant and Funny podcast. “A lot of people in the same discourse, they unearthed photos and tweets about WNBA players going to see Chris Brown.

“Everybody has a problematic favorite, as I call them. And that’s why I said like, I don’t know that people wanna play this game of getting into policing people’s entertainment because I promise you, everybody’s a hypocrite. No one is gonna hold up to the level and to the purity test that a lot of people wanna employ on others.”

Hill’s comments suggest a double standard in responses to athletes’ personal activities.

NFL pushes back following criticism from President Donald Trump

May 16, 2026 by Dan Benton
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The NFL defended its broadcasting strategy on Friday amid sharp criticism from President Donald Trump and a Justice Department review of its media deals.

Executive Vice President of Media Distribution Hans Schroeder emphasized the league’s commitment to its current model, describing it as the most fan-friendly in sports and entertainment.

“We love our model,” he said, via ESPN. “We think we have the most fan-friendly model there is of any sport or entertainment as far as distribution.”

Schroeder noted that 87% of games remain on free broadcast networks like FOX, CBS, NBC, and ABC, while a limited number appear on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video to reach cord-cutting audiences where they consume content.

“We think broadcast [networks] have been an incredible home,” he said. “And, now, we also know fans are increasingly spending their time on other platforms as well. They tune into broadcasts for the NFL and that’s where we want to be. But we also want to be on these platforms with a limited amount of our games where we know our NFL fans are already as well.

“When we’re going onto Netflix, we’re going onto a platform that is already massively adopted and a huge number of viewers on that platform already, including a huge number of NFL fans.”

NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Miller reinforced that the league prioritizes accessibility for fans through traditional television alongside evolving platforms.

Trump had earlier condemned the expansion to streaming services, calling it a form of “price gouging” that burdens average fans who must subscribe to multiple platforms to watch all games. He expressed concern that rising costs exclude loyal viewers.

The comments align with a reported DOJ antitrust probe examining whether the league’s deals, protected under the 1961 Sports Broadcasting Act, harm competition and consumers.

Despite the scrutiny, the NFL shows no plans to scale back its streaming partnerships as it navigates the changing media landscape

MMA trailblazer Gina Carano has completed a remarkable physical transformation, shedding 100 pounds since September 2024 to compete against Ronda Rousey.

After weighing in at 141.4 pounds on Friday, Carano shared the details of her journey in a candid social media post, describing the effort as extraordinarily demanding.

Ok. Vulnerable post but here we are.

I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs.
Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs. It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight.… pic.twitter.com/224i52wasN

The 44-year-old, who retired from competition in 2009 with a 7-1 record, was pre-diabetic and had difficulty walking when she began the process. Over more than 19 months, she faced setbacks, plateaus and extensive trial and error to reclaim her athletic form.

Carano credited the upcoming featherweight bout with Rousey for giving her the necessary focus, noting that her opponent had waited patiently while she prepared.

The matchup serves as the main event for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions inaugural MMA card, streaming live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

Rousey, 39, weighed in at 142 pounds and has called the contest her dream fight. Both athletes are regarded as foundational figures in women’s MMA, with Rousey holding a 12-2 record from her last appearance in 2016.

The bout is scheduled for Saturday night.
