Fans all called out 1 man after Thunder dominated Spurs in Game 3
Fans were quick to call out a man who wasn’t even in the building for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were without All-Star Jalen Williams for the contest on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs, leaving a scoring void that the rest of the team needed to fill. Jared McCain was ready to do just that in front of a hostile road crowd.
McCain was the Thunder’s second-leading scorer behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, finishing with 24 points on 10/21 shooting off the bench. Fans couldn’t help but look back on former Philadelphia 76ers GM Daryl Morey’s comments in February about “selling high” on McCain when he traded the young guard to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Gotta wonder if Daryl Morey is still quite confident he sold high on Jared McCain pic.twitter.com/iMkaGS65sm
— Barstool Sports (@barstoolsports) May 23, 2026
The Thunder traded three second-round picks and what is likely to be a late first-round pick to the 76ers in exchange for McCain. The Duke alum looked much more valuable in Game 3 than the collection of picks-to-be-used-later Morey scored for the Sixers.
Fans and media members made sure to remind him of that.
Every time anyone talks about Jared McCain, all I can hear in my head is Daryl Morey saying “quite confident we’re selling high.” Just the most yikes of yikeses.
— Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) May 23, 2026
Never forget that Daryl Morey traded Jared McCain to OKC and got absolutely no one in return.
— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) May 23, 2026
Several folks even demanded additional punishments for Morey, who got fired earlier this month.
Daryl Morey losing his job is simply not enough

Daryl Morey should be sent to prison giving away jared mccain
— Official Ohio State DG (@DylanEveryday) May 23, 2026
This Jared McCain game is going to get Daryl Morey fired again.
— Brandon Rahbar (@BrandonRahbar) May 23, 2026
McCain tied Alex Caruso with a Thunder-best +28 off the bench en route to a 123-108 win.
The 76ers could have definitely used McCain during their second-round series against the New York Knicks. Philly got swept by their East rivals, partly because they lacked another dynamic offensive playmaker like McCain.
Instead, the defending champion Thunder have McCain scoring 24 points in a pivotal Game 3 in the Western Conference Finals. How’s that for selling high?
De’Aaron Fox limps off Game 3 court in serious pain
San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox aggravated his ankle injury during the third quarter of Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 2-time All-Star came up limping after fighting for a rebound in the third quarter of the Western Conference Finals clash at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Fox fell to the floor as he battled Lu Dort for the loose ball. Dort’s body appeared to twist Fox’s ankle as the former crashed onto the hardwood.
Fox remained on the ground in serious pain as his Spurs teammates played 4-on-5 on the other end. You can watch the entire play unfold below.

Fox missed Games 1 and 2 with an injury to the same ankle. He was questionable heading into Game 3, but was cleared to play after testing out the ankle during warmups.
Despite aggravating the injury, Fox powered through the pain to return early in the fourth quarter.
The health of Fox’s ankle will likely remain a critical talking point heading into the next few games of the series.
Heated altercation halts play in Game 3 of Spurs-Thunder
Tempers flared right in the thick of Friday’s Game 3 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Western Conference Finals matchup came to a screeching halt with 8:19 left in the third quarter due to a contentious moment at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell committed a dangerous foul on Spurs star Stephon Castle as the latter went for a layup in transition.

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) May 23, 2026
The foul from behind sent Castle crashing toward the baseline. Spurs veteran Devin Vassell took exception to the contact and confronted Mitchell. The two exchanged shoves as players from both sides flooded into the scrum to keep things from escalating.

Mitchell was assessed a flagrant foul penalty 1 for pushing Castle as he was airborne. Mitchell and Vassell were both hit with offsetting technical fouls.
The first two games of the Spurs-Thunder series have treated fans to some of the highest-level basketball the NBA has seen in a long time. With both 60-win teams capable of playing rugged, physical basketball, it was only a matter of time before tension boiled over.
Wizards player left telling comment on post about AJ Dybantsa
One Washington Wizards player already seems to be welcoming AJ Dybantsa as his next teammate ahead of the 2026 NBA draft.
Dybantsa, the projected No. 1 overall pick, recently took on popular Twitch streamer PlaqueBoyMax in a friendly game of 1-on-1. The 6’9″ Dybantsa did not take it easy on the 5’9″ streamer, whose real name is Maxwell Elliot Dent.
Dent got embarrassed during the live-streamed game to 15. He lost 15-1 against a Dybantsa, who didn’t need to put in much effort to swat away several of Dent’s shots. All Dent could do was farm engagement with dramatic breaks in the action.

Wizards youngster Bub Carrington saw the clip of the game on Instagram and left a rather interesting comment on the post.

"Yoo teammate chill 💀" pic.twitter.com/sPRAo5hmPK
Carrington could just be teasing Dybantsa and fans alike. But he may also have insight into where Wizards executives Michael Winger and Will Dawkins are leaning when it comes to the draft.
While the Wizards, who hold the No. 1 pick, have the opportunity to select Dybantsa, questions abound about whether that will actually come to fruition. Dybantsa is considered a franchise-altering prospect, but so is projected No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson out of Kansas.
There have been rumblings that BYU alum Dybantsa could force his way to the Utah Jazz, who pick second come June. Washington could potentially acquire Peterson and significant assets from Utah should they prefer Darryn’s all-world scoring potential to AJ’s powerful, ball-dominant play.
Spurs player addresses Carter Bryant’s mid-game bathroom video in Game 2 vs. Thunder
One of Carter Bryant’s San Antonio Spurs teammates has come to his defense after his bathroom break in Game 2 went absolutely viral.
Bryant became a trending topic online when a video of him conducting some bathroom business in the middle of Wednesday’s Western Conference Finals matchup made waves. In the clip, Bryant was seen exiting a bathroom stall and washing his hands in a public bathroom at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Bryant’s shorts were also visibly soaking wet and sounds from the game were audible in the background.
The Spurs rookie’s veteran teammate, Julian Champagnie, came to his defense during Friday’s morning shootaround before Game 3 in San Antonio. Champagnie told reporters he felt Bryant has handled the attention well, and put the onus back on fans for recording from inside a private space such as a public bathroom.
“Personally, I wouldn’t want to be recorded in the bathroom,” Champagnie said. “He had to go to the bathroom. I don’t know what else he was supposed to do. He had to go to the bathroom. He went to the quickest one.
“I don’t think anything’s wrong with it. I think, if anything, we should stop recording people in the bathroom. Thank you, guys.”
With the Spurs as the road team in Game 2, Bryant was in unfamiliar territory for his bathroom emergency. He probably felt that the locker room cubicles were much farther than the closest public bathroom to the Spurs’ bench.
While it was disrespectful that the Thunder fan recorded Bryant, at least the folks in there with him did not heckle him or give it a hard time.
And at the very least, we have video evidence that Bryant washed his hands.
Kyrie Irving is being linked to 1 team in trade rumors
Kyrie Irving might potentially end up with the team that he once helped beat in the Western Conference Finals.
The Dallas Mavericks star point guard Irving is being linked this week to the Minnesota Timberwolves in trade rumors. NBA writer Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson reports that Minnesota star forward Anthony Edwards is advocating behind the scenes for the team to pursue Irving (also reportedly saying privately that he would “love” to team up with Irving).
This also lines up with a report from Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic this week, who said while appearing on “The Ryen Russillo Show” that the Timberwolves are going to “look at” the possibility of trading for Irving.
The nine-time NBA All-Star Irving, 34, is at a low point of his value right now after missing the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from an ACL tear. Meanwhile, Irving only has one more guaranteed year left on his contract next season at $39.5 million (with a $42.4 million player option for 2027-28 as well).
We recently heard that the Mavericks, who fired head coach Jason Kidd earlier this week, might potentially look at parting ways with Irving next. With their move towards a full rebuild based around 19-year-old phenom Cooper Flagg, Irving no longer matches Dallas’ timeline.
As for the Timberwolves, a report recently emerged claiming that they are fearful about Edwards requesting a trade and that they could potentially make moves this summer to satisfy him. If Edwards is a fan of Irving (who plays at the position that Minnesota is weakest at), that might be the most logical such move for the Timberwolves to make this offseason.
76ers could hire 1 former NBA All-Star to replace Daryl Morey
The Philadelphia 76ers may not have to look very far to find Daryl Morey’s successor.
Retired former NBA All-Star point guard Nelson is a candidate to replace Morey as Philadelphia’s next head of basketball operations, Tony Jones of The Athletic reported this week. Jones further notes that Nelson is the “strongest internal candidate” for the position.
Nelson, 44, already currently serves as the assistant general manager for the 76ers. He also had a lengthy playing career in the NBA from 2004-18.
In total, Nelson played for six NBA teams (the Orlando Magic, the Dallas Mavericks, the Boston Celtics, the Denver Nuggets, the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Detroit Pistons). But he was best known for his run with the Magic from 2004-14, including serving as the starting point guard on Orlando’s 2009 NBA Finals team and making the NBA All-Star team that same year as well.
Nelson first began with the 76ers in 2020 as the assistant general manager of their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. In 2025, Nelson was promoted to the assistant general manager of the NBA team.
Meanwhile, the 76ers fired Morey earlier this month after six seasons as their president of basketball operations. Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers is leading the search for a new 76ers president, and Nelson (who also has a professional basketball player son) will be receiving strong consideration for the position.
Dawn Staley has been linked to an NBA head coach job
For the second consecutive offseason, South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley is being linked to an NBA gig.
Christian Clark of The Athletic listed Staley as a name to watch for the Dallas Mavericks head coach job in an article on Friday. One NBA executive told Clark that it would not be a shock if new Mavericks president Masai Ujiri seeks to interview Staley about the position.
Staley actually interviewed for the New York Knicks job last summer and said she would have taken it had it been offered to her. It is not clear if she would feel the same about an opportunity in Dallas, especially since she expressed doubts about whether the NBA is ready for a female head coach.
There is also precedent for Ujiri considering this type of move. He interviewed Becky Hammon for a head coaching job in 2023 when he was still running the Toronto Raptors.
The Mavericks should have a fairly attractive opening as they look to replace Jason Kidd. Whoever lands the job will have Cooper Flagg as the centerpiece of a roster that could rapidly become a factor in the Western Conference with the right moves.
Staley has coached South Carolina since 2008. She is 511-113 with three NCAA titles and has guided the school to the Final Four in six consecutive seasons.
Indiana Fever get warned by the WNBA over Caitlin Clark
The Indiana Fever have received a yellow card from the WNBA.
Indiana was warned this week by the league over their superstar guard Caitlin Clark, beat reporter Scott Agness reported on Thursday. Agness notes that the warning for the Fever relates to their injury reporting about Clark.
The two-time WNBA All-Star Clark was a late scratch for Wednesday’s game vs. the Portland Fire at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. due to a back injury. But Clark had not been listed on the injury report during the lead-up to the game, which was nationally televised on USA Network.
With Clark out of commission, Indiana still went on to defeat Portland by a convincing final score of 90-73. They are now set to face the Golden State Valkyries on Friday (with Clark officially listed as probable for that game).
Clark, 24, had appeared in the first four games of the season for the Fever, averaging 24.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game. But Clark only played in 14 total games for Indiana last season due to quad and groin injuries, meaning that the Fever need to be extra cautious with her health this year.
That said, the WNBA is not pleased with Indiana over their failure to properly disclose Clark’s health situation prior to Wednesday’s game. This saga also comes just days after fans called out the WNBA for a supposed snub of Clark.
Former NBA star gets into altercation with fan at Florida softball game
A former NBA All-Star was briefly in hot water after an altercation with a fan at an NCAA Softball Super Regional on Friday.
Former NBA point guard Jason Williams got into it with a Gators fan during Friday’s game, according to Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun. Initially, Williams was escorted from the game at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., but was ultimately allowed back in while the fan was removed.
Williams was attending the game to watch his daughter Mia, who stars for the Texas Tech softball team. Williams alleged that his other daughter was struck by a handheld fan while the family was celebrating Mia getting a hit. Mia started her college career at Florida, her father’s alma mater, before transferring to Texas Tech for this season.
Ultimately, the Florida fan was the only one ejected over the situation.
Jason Williams is fondly remembered by many NBA fans for his impressive passing ability, which he apparently still possesses. He has maintained a low profile since retiring from the league in 2011, though he recently joined Barstool Sports’ “Hoopin’ N Hollerin’” podcast.
Mia Williams wound up breaking an 8-8 tie in the seventh with a home run, and the Red Raiders won 10-8.
Richard Childress Racing reveals touching plan for Kyle Busch’s No. 8
Kyle Busch’s No. 8 car will not be appearing in any NASCAR races for the foreseeable future, but Richard Childress Racing is not taking it completely out of circulation.
The racing team announced Friday that it will run the No. 33 car instead of No. 8 moving forward. Instead, the team will hold the number aside exclusively for Brexton Busch, Kyle’s son.
“Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did,” RCR said in a statement. “The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.”
Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the…
— RCR (@RCRracing) May 22, 2026
Brexton Busch just turned 11 earlier this month. He has already embarked on a racing career, starting at the age of 5 and listing an impressive series of accomplishments. One of his Instagram posts says he is “chasing my dream of being just like my dad, a multi-time NASCAR Cup Series champion!”
Busch had driven the No. 8 car since joining RCR in 2023. Prior to that, he drove the No. 18 car while with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Busch died suddenly this week at the age of 41. Details are still not yet known, though some information is starting to emerge about the severe illness he was dealing with.
Spurs player wants team to ‘hit back’ over Victor Wembanyama’s treatment
A San Antonio Spurs player thinks it is time his team pays back the Oklahoma City Thunder for what he sees as overly physical defense against star center Victor Wembanyama.
Forward Julian Champagnie told reporters that the Spurs had to respond to the physical defense on Wembanyama by giving the Thunder some payback. Champagnie admitted that fundamentally, officials have to deal with how Wembanyama is treated, but the Spurs can send their own message.
“The guys hit him, they pull him, they grab his jersey, they’re grabbing his arm when he’s jumping,” Champagnie said, via Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “Obviously, that’s not basketball. That’s just a physicality thing. That’s up to the refs to deal with, not us. But I think as a team, how we can help him is we hit them back.
“Honestly, truly, do the same thing. Do the same thing that they’re doing to us to them. Match the level of physicality and then just see how that goes.”
The Thunder deployed Isaiah Hartenstein against Wembanyama in Game 2, and the star center was limited to 21 points by his physical play. The Spurs were not thrilled with it, but Champagnie is right that the Spurs can only control what they can control, and that might involve sending a message of their own.
The Spurs, of course, have to be careful not to let any of their supposed payback cross a line. Wembanyama has already seemingly lost his cool a couple times in the playoffs, and the Spurs do not need the rest of the team joining him.
911 call reveals Kyle Busch was coughing up blood
A 911 call regarding Kurt Busch revealed that the NASCAR driver was coughing up blood before being transported to a hospital on Wednesday.
The audio, obtained by Corky Siemaszko of NBC News, reveals that an unknown caller dialed 911 Wednesday afternoon to report Busch’s symptoms. An ambulance is directed to the General Motors Charlotte Technical Center in Concord, N.C., and Busch is described as awake but “on the bathroom floor.”
“I’ve got an individual that’s, uh, shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out and is producing a little bit of blood — coughing up some blood,” the caller says. The individual then asks for the dispatched ambulance to turn off its sirens once it gets there, and that he would meet them outside.
This aligns with reports that Busch was initially found unresponsive while testing a racing simulator in Concord. The 911 call indicates that Busch was alert and responsive for at least some period of time before being transported to a hospital.
Busch died suddenly this week at 41. No cause of death has been publicly revealed. He had requested a doctor after completing his final race at Watkins Glen, and had also complained of a cough in the weeks leading up to his death.
Austin Dillon shares emotional tribute to teammate Kyle Busch
Austin Dillon shared perhaps the most emotional tribute yet to teammate Kyle Busch after Busch’s sudden death on Thursday.
Dillon had been teammates with Busch on Richard Childress Racing since 2023, but had looked up to Busch for his entire life. Dillon spoke about how much of an accomplishment it was to ever beat Busch, and how much of a joy it had been to be teammates.
“You are the ultimate racer and my favorite teammate and driver of all time,” Dillon wrote.
Dillon also pledged to be there for Busch’s widow Sam and his two children.

This one is emotional to read, but beautifully written. pic.twitter.com/zTI9VyZr3A
In many ways, Dillon was seen as something of a protege of Busch’s in light of his bold and at times controversial moves. Beyond being teammates, it certainly makes sense that the loss would hit him particularly hard.
Busch died Thursday after what was described as a sudden illness. Few details have been made public, though he was reportedly found unresponsive in a simulator before being hospitalized.
LeBron James got brutally honest about why Lakers lost to Thunder
LeBron James did not mince words when discussing why the Los Angeles Lakers were so overmatched by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Playoffs.
The Lakers fell victim to a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the Thunder, and in the latest episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast, James said he felt the Lakers had done the best they could. The Thunder simply had more talent.
“Understanding this year, we fought and we played to the maximum ability of our team,” James said, via Khobi Price of the New York Post. “But ultimately, if we’re being completely honest, we were out-talented.”
The Lakers did not have Luka Doncic at their disposal against the Thunder, which certainly made a difference. Even if he had been available, however, the depth of Oklahoma City’s talent might have been too much for the Lakers.
James seemingly knew this as early as February, when he said the Thunder were in a different class than the Lakers. Realistically, that might not change anytime soon, which could drive James to look for a new team this summer.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. reacts to Kyle Busch’s death
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch were longtime rivals, but Earnhardt paid tribute to Busch as a friend after Busch’s death on Thursday.
Earnhardt admitted that he and Busch “had a really challenging existence for many years,” but eventually sorted out their differences at Busch’s instigation. He spoke of a relationship built on deep respect, and that Earnhardt had even planned to see him next week.
“Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many,” Earnhardt wrote on X. “My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.”
Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better…
— Dale Earnhardt Jr. (@DaleJr) May 21, 2026
Earnhardt and Busch had a tense relationship after Busch left Hendrick Motorsports in 2008 and Earnhardt took over his car. Busch infamously wrecked Earnhardt on lap 398 of 400 at Richmond that year, which helped establish Busch’s antagonistic reputation among fans.
Busch died suddenly on Thursday at age 41. He had complained about a sinus issue during his final race at Watkins Glen on May 10, but details about his cause of death remain unclear.
Kyle Busch offered hauntingly prophetic message after final win
NASCAR legend Kyle Busch delivered a hauntingly prescient message following his final victory, just days before his unexpected death at age 41.
On May 15, Busch secured his record-extending 69th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at Dover Motor Speedway, dominating the Ecosave 200 while leading 147 laps.
In a post-race interview with FS1’s Amanda Busick, the two-time Cup Series champion reflected on the significance of victory. When asked why such moments never grow old, Busch did not hesitate.
“Because you never know when the last one is,” he said.
The comment, now widely circulated, has taken on profound meaning in light of subsequent events.
Busch, known as “Rowdy,” passed away on Thursday after being hospitalized with a severe illness. He had recently complained of health issues, including requesting medical attention following a race at Watkins Glen.
His final Cup Series start came in the All-Star Race at Dover, where he finished 26th.
A fierce competitor with 63 Cup wins and two championships, Busch evolved from a polarizing figure to a fan favorite. His legacy as one of NASCAR’s most accomplished and passionate drivers endures.
The sport mourns a rare talent taken too soon.
Giants sign embattled GM Joe Schoen to multi-year extension
The New York Giants have agreed to a multi-year contract extension with general manager Joe Schoen, keeping the embattled executive in his role amid a significant organizational overhaul.
Schoen, who has served as the team’s general manager since 2022, will continue under new head coach John Harbaugh.
The decision follows a productive offseason that featured a strong NFL Draft and effective free agency moves. Team officials highlighted Schoen’s contributions to roster rebuilding efforts following the dismissal of former head coach Brian Daboll.
The Giants finished the previous season with a poor 4-13 record, prompting major changes at the coaching level.
Schoen’s overall record stands at 22-45-1 since taking over, including one playoff appearance in his first season. While the extension rewards recent front-office successes, it has drawn mixed reactions from fans and observers, particularly given the franchise’s recent struggles and Schoen’s below-average grades from players.
Harbaugh, who was hired with final say over football operations, has expressed a collaborative working relationship with the general manager as the team enters a new era.
Fans filmed Spurs’ Carter Bryant using public bathroom mid-game
During Game 2 of the 2026 Western Conference Finals, San Antonio Spurs forward Carter Bryant faced an unexpected mid-game situation that quickly went viral.
While the Spurs fell 122-113 to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center, the 20-year-old rookie was captured on video using a public restroom in the arena.
A fan recorded Bryant in the bathroom and shared the footage on social media, sparking widespread discussion and some outrage over privacy concerns. Many questioned why the player opted for a public facility instead of the visitors’ locker room, while others criticized the act of filming someone in such a private moment.
Bryant, a second-year player who saw 10 minutes of action with limited statistical impact (one rebound, two turnovers), became the unintended focus of online attention amid the Spurs’ injury challenges.
The incident has fueled debates about fan behavior and boundaries in professional sports venues.
As the series shifts back to San Antonio, tied at 1-1, the moment serves as a reminder of the intense scrutiny athletes face even during routine breaks.
Knicks’ Josh Hart devoured pizza at podium after Game 2 win
In a scene only New York could produce, Josh Hart capped a standout Game 2 performance by strolling into the postgame press conference at Madison Square Garden with an entire box of pizza.
The pepperoni pie, topped with fresh basil, came from one of the city’s finest spots — L’industrie — and served as the perfect fuel after Hart helped the Knicks secure a 2-0 series lead.
As Hart settled at the podium alongside Karl-Anthony Towns, his teammate politely suggested moving the box aside. Undeterred, Hart kept a slice in hand and happily munched away.
The duo then launched into an impromptu debate on pizza fundamentals.
“Are you a crust guy?” Hart asked.
“It all depends if it’s garlic crust or not. Or that good crust. Like, a good crust pizza,” Anthony-Towns replied thoughtfully
The moment offered a refreshingly calm, humorous interlude following intense playoff action.
Hart’s voracious appetite mirrored his relentless style on the court, reminding fans why New York City pizza remains unmatched—thin, foldable, and always worth savoring, win or not. In Manhattan and beyond, this is how champions refuel.
