Timberwolves had one of the worst meltdowns of the year vs. Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday pulled off a comeback of epic proportions against a Minnesota Timberwolves team that desperately needed a win.
Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo hit a three-pointer to put his team up 95-71 early in the fourth quarter at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis. With about 10 minutes left, the game appeared to be all but over for the Bucks.
DiVincenzo’s shot would end up being the last Timberwolves points over the next five minutes of play. The Bucks went on a furious 23-0 run to cut the lead down to one with five minutes left in the contest.
Milwaukee stayed hot down the stretch, outscoring Minnesota 16-8 the rest of the way to pick up a wild 110-103 victory. The home team outscored the visitors 40-13 in the final quarter.
Here’s the full comeback in all its glory.

Tuesday’s contest also marked the return of Bucks fan favorite Bobby Portis. The Arkansas alum had just finished serving a 25-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance.
Portis and Kevin Porter Jr. were outstanding off Milwaukee’s bench. The pair combined for 39 points on 13/24 shooting to help fuel the epic comeback.
The loss was brutal for the Timberwolves’ postseason hopes. With just three games left in Minnesota’s season, the team fell to the eighth seed and a likely play-in tournament appearance in the crowded Western Conference.
Official explains why Emanuel Sharp could not touch ball on Houston’s final play
Houston lost to Florida 65-63 in the national championship game on Monday night, and they went down with a whimper as they failed to get a shot off before the buzzer. Emanuel Sharp got the ball and was ready to attempt a 3-pointer, but he decided not to shoot the ball despite elevating. He then let the ball go as he returned to the ground but realized he could not touch the ball. As a result, Florida was able to jump on the ball and run out the time in the game to win.
The announcers for the game correctly noted that Sharp could not touch the ball because it would have been considered traveling. Some fans watching the game didn’t understand why Sharp could not touch the ball.

In basketball, players are not allowed to pass the ball to themselves, and what Sharp did would have amounted to passing to himself had he gone after his own ball that he dropped.

Clippers fans used unique distraction against visiting Spurs
Los Angeles Clippers fans went outside the box Tuesday for their free throw distraction against the visiting San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs visited the Clippers for their season series finale inside Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. With the Clippers desperately needing a victory to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race, the team’s fans made sure to play their part.
The Clippers’ billion-dollar arena has a unique feature called “The Wall,” a steep 51-row section behind the opposing team’s basket once the squads switch sides after halftime. During the second half Tuesday against the Spurs, the fan section revealed their secret weapon: posters with Charles Barkley’s face on them.
“San Antonio’s #1 Enemy,” the posters read.
The @ClippersWall at Intuit Dome does its job again😂

Check out the Charles Barkley signs for the Spurs 👇 pic.twitter.com/PQRJAXVwVq
Barkley’s decade-long beef with the City of San Antonio has been well documented. The Hall of Famer has feuded with the Alamo City even before 20-year-old Spurs rookie Stephon Castle hit puberty.
Castle was the first Spur to get to the free throw line in the second half. After drawing a shooting foul at the 7:02 mark of the third quarter, Castle split his foul shots in front of the Clippers’ wall of fans.
Spurs center Bismack Biyombo was the next one to step up to the line a few plays later when he scored a bucket plus the foul against James Harden. Biyombo missed his free throw as well.
The Spurs ended up shooting 5/9 from the charity stripe in the second half. Given that the Clippers won 122-117, those misses proved to be huge down the stretch.
While it’s impossible to prove whether the Barkley posters indeed caused the poor free throw shooting, they probably didn’t hurt the Clippers’ cause.
Lakers player makes accusation about ref who ejected Luka Doncic
The Los Angeles Lakers felt like there was something fishy going on with Luka Doncic’s ejection on Thursday.
Doncic was tossed from the team’s road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. During the fourth quarter, Doncic said something to a fan who was sitting courtside after making a basket. But referee JT Orr, who was standing in the area where the fan was sitting, issued Doncic a technical foul, seemingly having thought that Doncic’s barb was directed at him. You can see the video here.
Earlier in the game (during the third quarter), Doncic had already been given a T by Orr for saying something to him in the middle of play. As a result, Doncic was ejected from the game after his subsequent technical from Orr in the fourth quarter.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt made an accusation about Orr. Vanderbilt claimed that Orr, after giving Doncic his first technical foul and receiving complaints from the Lakers because of it, said that he would “talk to anybody but Luka.” Vanderbilt, who also himself got a technical foul from Orr following the Doncic ejection for a taunt of OKC’s Alex Caruso, said that he felt that Doncic’s Ts were “personal.”
Referee crew chief Tony Brothers told the reporter pool after the game that Doncic’s first technical foul was for directing “profanity at a game official” and that the second technical foul was because Doncic “looked directly at an official and used vulgar language.”
In any case, the Lakers quickly fell apart after the Doncic ejection. They were up 108-107 at the time, but ended up losing 136-120 after allowing the Thunder to close the game on a 29-12 run.
As for Orr, he is in his 13th season as an NBA official and entered this year having already officiated nearly 600 career NBA games. But Orr is now the latest NBA referee to be accused of having an anti-Lakers bias.
Jaylen Wells’ dad shares update after son was stretchered out of Grizzlies-Hornets game
Memphis Grizzlies fans were able to let out a collective sigh of relief following updates from Jaylen Wells and his dad on social media.
On Tuesday night, Wells suffered a scary-looking injury during the Grizzlies’ game against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. The Memphis rookie rose up for what appeared to be an uncontested dunk with about a minute left in the second quarter. Hornets guard KJ Simpson undercut Wells from behind, which led the latter to crash violently onto the hardwood (video here).
The 21-year-old was eventually taken off the floor in a stretcher and transported to a nearby medical facility. Wells’ father, Fred Wells, went on X to share an update on his son’s condition. Jaylen was alert enough to be curious about how his team performed against the Hornets without him. The Grizzlies beat the Hornets 124-100.
“Jaylen is awake and alert,” wrote Fred. “Wanted 2 [sic] know the score! Swollen wrist. Face, jaw and back pain. About to get X-ray and CT.”
Jaylen even felt well enough to post on his own social media accounts. He posted a selfie on his Instagram story with a two-word caption.
“Go Grizz,” Wells’ caption read.

Wells has arguably been the biggest steal of the 2024 draft. The second-round pick has averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for a postseason-bound Grizzlies team. The Washington State alum even won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award in November.
The 6’7″ swingman has played in all 79 of Memphis’ games so far this season. He earned his first start only five games into the year and has held onto his place in the starting lineup ever since.
Rudy Gobert trades shoves with opponent in middle of meltdown loss
Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves had a bad day at the office on Tuesday.
In an absolutely crucial game for Western Conference seeding, the Timberwolves blew a 24-point lead in the fourth quarter to lose to the Milwaukee Bucks 110-103. After holding a 95-71 advantage with just under 10 minutes to play, Minnesota allowed Milwaukee to go on an unbelievable 39-8 run to close the game and steal the victory.
As the meltdown was unfolding, the Timberwolves center Gobert had a heated exchange with Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. The two were jockeying for position at around the three-minute mark as Gobert attempted to set a ball screen for Anthony Edwards. Gobert hooked and spun Porter around and then himself ended up on the deck.
Porter responded by towering over Gobert angrily, and once Gobert popped back up, the two players exchanged simultaneous shoves before being separated by teammates. Here is the video.
Gobert and Porter were given double technical fouls for the incident, and Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr. was also hit with a technical for a shove to Gobert’s back after the initial scrum was broken up. Though that resulted in one net technical foul shot by the Timberwolves (which Edwards made), the Bucks outscored them 13-5 from that point on to win the game.
The four-time Defensive Player of the Year Gobert finished the game with a mediocre six points, nine rebounds, and zero blocks. Meanwhile, Porter ended up with 21 key points and the distinction of being the latest NBA player to lock horns with Gobert during a game.
Luka Doncic ejected after talking trash to courtside fan
Luka Doncic was in disbelief after he was ejected from Tuesday’s marquee matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Doncic drained a tough floater to give the Lakers a 108-107 lead with 7:42 left in the contest. As Doncic skipped back on defense, he shouted some trash talk toward a fan sitting courtside at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Referee J.T. Orr may have thought that Doncic’s choice words were directed at him because the veteran official assessed a technical foul against the Lakers star. Given that he had already been called for a technical foul in the third quarter, Doncic was ejected.

pic.twitter.com/UpVtMOiHNG
Doncic tallied 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists before being tossed from the game.
The Luka ejection was a turning point for the Lakers as the team fell apart after losing their Slovenian star. The Thunder closed the contest on a 29-12 run to win 136-120.
The visitors were coming off a convincing 126-99 win over the Thunder in the same building two nights prior. Despite losing the rematch, JJ Redick’s squad is likely satisfied knowing that they can hang with the NBA’s best regular season team.
With Los Angeles likely to finish as a top-4 seed, a Lakers-Thunder series in May seems like a real possibility.
Jarren Duran opens up about his suicide attempt in 2022
Jarren Duran has become a star for the Boston Red Sox over the last few seasons. But his road to getting there was far from smooth.
On Tuesday, Netflix released the documentary series “The Clubhouse.” The eight-part series gave Red Sox fans an up close and personal look into the lives of the team’s players, including Duran.
In the series’ fourth episode, titled “Still Alive,” Duran shared details about his suicide attempt in 2022. The 28-year-old revealed how his struggles on the field had exacerbated his mental health issues outside the confines of Fenway Park.
“I was already hearing it from fans,” Duran said on the Netflix show, via MLB.com’s Ian Browne. “And what they said to me, I’ve told myself 10 times worse in the mirror. That was a really tough time for me. I didn’t even want to be here anymore.”
It got to the point where Duran held a loaded rifle in his room one night in 2022. He shared that he tried to pull the trigger on himself, but claimed the gun did not fire. Duran considered the gun misfiring as some form of divine intervention.
Before the Red Sox’s Tuesday game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Duran spoke to reporters about his decision to talk about his suicide attempt on a mainstream platform like Netflix. The Red Sox star stated that his message was meant to help anyone struggling with similar thoughts.
“I mean, the whole purpose of me sharing is just kind of to get it out there and let people know that they’re not alone,” said Duran. “Even if I could just help one person, it’s meaningful. So I’m just trying to let people know that there’s always help and to make sure that they’re reaching out.”

Suicide prevention group “Samaritans” reportedly received triple the calls that they usually do on the night the Netflix series debuted.
Duran had a breakout campaign for the Red Sox last season. The 6’1″ slugger batted .285 with 21 home runs, 75 RBIs, and an OPS of .834. He finished eighth in AL MVP voting, even ahead of superstar teammate Rafael Devers.
Ja Morant debuts interesting new celebration
Ja Morant isn’t using gun celebrations any more, but he is still continuing on the theme of weapons.
The Memphis Grizzlies star Morant debuted a notable new celebration during his team’s game on Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets. After hitting a three-pointer over Hornets big man Taj Gibson in the third quarter, Morant pretended to bring out a grenade and pull the pin with his teeth. He then turned and threw the imaginary grenade into the crowd (even going on to cover his ears in anticipation of the imaginary explosion).
Here is the video (featuring Grizzlies color commentator and former NBA guard Brevin Knight questioning what exactly Morant had just done).
The two-time All-Star Morant, who has been suspended multiple times by the NBA for flashing real weapons on social media, recently got himself into hot water with the league again over his gun gestures. During a game against the Golden State Warriors last week, Morant exchanged gun motions with Warriors guard Buddy Hield. The NBA issued a warning to Morant over the move, saying that the gesture was “inappropriate.”
But Morant was not fazed at all by the warning and did a gun celebration after his very first basket in the very next game for Memphis against the Miami Heat (video here). For that show of defiance, the league ended up fining Morant $75,000.
It is anyone’s guess if the NBA will do anything about Morant’s new grenade celebration. But the Grizzlies were up big on the Hornets at the time (eventually winning 124-100), and Morant was feeling good enough in the middle of things to push the envelope once again.
Braves acquire former Astros champion in trade
The 2021 World Series champions are adding a member of the 2022 World Series champions.
The Atlanta Braves announced to social media on Tuesday that they have acquired veteran reliever Rafael Montero in a trade with the Houston Astros. Atlanta will also be getting cash considerations from Houston in addition to Montero, and they will be sending a player to be named later to the Astros in return.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post further notes that the Astros will be covering the majority of the salary of Montero, who is owed $11.5 million this year in the final season of his contract.
Montero, a 34-year-old righty, starred in the bullpen of the Houston team that won the 2022 World Series. He posted a 2.37 ERA over 71 regular season appearances that year and was even more lights-out in the playoffs, turning in a 1.93 ERA with 10 strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
After Montero’s successful 2022 campaign, the Astros rewarded him with a three-year, $34.5 million contract. Unfortunately for them though, Montero subsequently failed to live up to that price tag and had posted an ugly 4.92 ERA in 112 total relief appearances over the two-plus seasons since then. At one point last year, Montero was even DFA’d, but he accepted an assignment to Triple-A and went on to make Houston’s Opening Day roster this season.
But after another shaky start by Montero with a 4.50 ERA in his first three relief appearances this year, the Astros are cutting their losses on him. Now the Braves, who are a horrific 1-8 right now, will try their luck with Montero as a likely middle reliever. He definitely won’t be any sort of savior for them though, especially since Atlanta’s biggest problems at the moment are on the offensive side of the ball.
Grizzlies’ Jaylen Wells taken off on stretcher after nasty fall
Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaylen Wells was taken off the court on a stretcher Tuesday after suffering a nasty fall during his team’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Wells was going up for a dunk in transition with his Grizzlies leading the Hornets 60-44 with 1:11 left in the second quarter. KJ Simpson ran into Wells and fouled him, which caused Wells to rotate parallel to the ground and hit his head when he fell.
Here is the full moment captured by the Hornets broadcast team.

Shannon Sharpe puts Russell Westbrook on blast for blowing off media
Shannon Sharpe was not afraid to call out Russell Westbrook over his recent reluctance to speak to the media.
The Denver Nuggets guard went three consecutive games without attending his mandatory postgame press conference. Westbrook has refused to answer questions ever since the team’s stunning double-overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves to start the month. In the April 1 contest, Westbrook committed multiple miscues late leading to the Nuggets’ collapse down the stretch.
When Westbrook finally faced the media on Sunday, he basically answered “I don’t know” to every question raised.
During a recent episode of his “Nightcap” podcast, Sharpe slammed Westbrook for ducking his obligations as a professional athlete.
“That’s a part of your obligation,” Sharpe told his co-host, Chad Johnson. “That’s why you make the big bucks. And now, when things go bad, you don’t want to talk. But when he was getting those triple-doubles, you couldn’t beat him to the microphone.”
“One thing I prided myself on, I hated to lose. I did. When I was growing up, I would cry. I would kick things and tear things. And my granny said, ‘I’m gonna tear your a– up, because you’re not going to be winning everything in life, and you’re not going to be doing this.’ I just don’t get it, man.”
The Nuggets have looked out of sorts on the court ever since their loss to the T-Wolves. The team has gone 0-4 in April, including a 113-106 loss at home against an undermanned San Antonio Spurs squad.
The team’s current tailspin on the court ultimately pushed the Nuggets to completely clean house with the playoffs right around the corner.
Dodgers pitcher has shady social media post after skipping White House visit
One Los Angeles Dodgers player was more than happy to let people know that he skipped the team’s White House visit this week.
Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol was notably absent as the team visited President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday in honor of their 2024 World Series title. In a post to his Instagram Story later in the day, Graterol made clear that he passed on the visit intentionally.
Graterol posted a selfie with his daughter at home and used some wordplay in his caption, writing “in my brown house” (along with a heart-face emoji).
The 26-year-old Graterol, who is of Venezuelan descent, is currently on the 60-day injured list due to a shoulder injury. But he played a role in both of the Dodgers’ recent World Series titles in 2020 and 2024. Graterol posted a 2.45 ERA for the team last regular season and also made three appearances during the World Series against the New York Yankees, giving up one earned run in 2.1 total innings of work.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dodgers did not have a chance to visit the White House when they won it all in 2020. But now that the opportunity arose after their 2024 World Series title, Graterol was pleased to miss out.
Without Graterol at the White House on Monday, the Dodgers still managed to have a memorable time. Shohei Ohtani got a noteworthy compliment from President Trump during the festivities, and Mookie Betts (who once skipped on a previous opportunity to visit Trump at the White House) was present with the team as well.
Florida star Walter Clayton Jr. was ticked off with Gators mascot
Florida basketball star Walter Clayton Jr. was annoyed with the Gators’ mascot after his team’s 65-63 win over Houston in the NCAA Tournament championship game on Monday night.
Clayton scored 11 points and had 7 assists in the victory, which gave Florida their 3rd national championship. He was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as well.
After the game, Clayton was celebrating and trying to take a photo with his girlfriend and daughter, but the Gators’ mascot interrupted. The TV cameras caught him telling the mascot to “get out.” Clayton even had to say it a second time when the mascot didn’t listen.

The mascot should have realized that was a personal moment and not a time for Phillie Phanatic nonsense. But it ended up producing a funny moment (less funny if you were Clayton).
Clayton began his career playing two seasons at Iona and just finished his second season at Florida. He averaged 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game as a senior.
Nikola Jokic’s role in firing of Nuggets head coach revealed
Michael Malone was the only head coach that Nikola Jokic had ever had in the NBA, but it appears that the partnership may have run its course.
Matt Moore of Action Network reported Tuesday on the Denver Nuggets star Jokic’s role in the shock firing of Malone by the team. Moore notes that Jokic did not request a coaching change and was only informed of the news earlier in the day before it was announced. However, Moore also reports that Jokic’s evident frustration with this season played a part in the decision-making process of Denver ownership.
Malone had been the head coach of the Nuggets since 2015, which was also when Jokic was drafted by the team. Under Malone’s leadership, Jokic blossomed into a seven-time All-Star and three-time NBA MVP, also serving as the centerpiece of the Denver team that won the championship in 2023.
But the Nuggets have lost every single game that they have played so far in the month of April and are now 47-32 on the season, which has them on the verge of falling into the NBA play-in tournament. As we had been hearing for several months now, Malone also reportedly had fundamental disagreements with GM Calvin Booth (who was fired by the team on Tuesday as well).
As for Jokic, he had indeed sounded very frustrated with the state of affairs for the team from the very beginning of the season. Though it would have run contrary to Jokic’s reputation for him to directly request a coaching change, it looks like his non-verbal language spoke loudly enough to ownership.
Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke has since hinted at why exactly the team chose to fire Malone and Booth. But with just three games left in the regular season, it is obviously a major roll-of-the-dice for Denver, even with a star of Jokic’s caliber leading the charge for them.
Tom Brady loses out on Emmy nomination to his FOX rival
FOX Sports is in a somewhat awkward spot on Tuesday after Tom Brady failed to land an Emmy nomination, but one of their other broadcasters did.
Brady was not among the nominees for the Outstanding Sports Personality, Sports Event Analyst category for May’s Sports Emmy Awards. Fellow FOX commentator Greg Olsen was, however, for the fourth consecutive year.
Honored to be nominated for my 4th consecutive @TheEmmys 🏆🏆
— Greg Olsen (@gregolsen88) April 8, 2025
Congrats to everyone nominated. Some big time names!!@NFLonFOX pic.twitter.com/MdBkU1Nidn
Olsen actually won the honor last season, just before FOX bumped him down from the No. 1 team to No. 2 in order to accommodate Brady. That move was quite controversial given the praise Olsen had won as FOX’s top NFL analyst, both from critics and among the public. FOX handed Brady a 10-year, $375 million contract to become their top NFL analyst, and with that sort of money on the table, Olsen’s days were numbered.
FOX has made its decision and is standing by it, but this has to be awkward for them. While Olsen continues to garner praise for his work, reviews for Brady were decidedly more mixed in his first season in the booth. He was prone to mistakes at times, and in general, many felt that Olsen provided better insight.
Further complicating the situation is Brady’s new role as minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, in which he is taking on significant responsibilities in what could be seen as a conflict of interest. The NFL continues to maintain there are no problems on that front.
Brady does not need an Emmy nomination to validate himself and his work. However, it still is not a great look for his network that the guy they demoted to bring him in keeps getting the best reviews.

High school baseball team suspended for allegedly urinating in opponent’s water
A junior varsity high school baseball team has been suspended and charges have been filed after one member of the team allegedly urinated in an opponent’s water jug.
The entire Rio Rancho High School junior varsity team from Rio Rancho, N.M. was suspended after it was alleged that at least one of their players urinated into a water jug. Several players and coaches from La Cueva High School’s JV team are believed to have drank from the jug during the game, which took place on March 25.
Rio Rancho Public Schools officials confirmed the incident last Wednesday and promised “severe” discipline for those involved, according to Kevin Opsahl of the Rio Rancho Observer.
On Monday, KOB4 reported that a 16-year-old student had admitted to the act, and would face 15 counts of battery over the incident. The student’s name was not released due to his status as a minor.

Despite the alleged perpetrator coming forward, the rest of the baseball team remains suspended while an investigation continues.
While there have been some incidents like this before, the fact that the player allegedly urinated in a water jug that the opponent actually drank from really takes this incident to a whole new level. It is no surprise that the authorities are coming down hard over this one.
Shedeur Sanders schedules visit with surprising team
Former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is taking a pre-draft visit with a surprising team outside of the top 10.
Sanders is set to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. Notably, the Steelers do not pick until No. 21 overall.

— Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) April 8, 2025
Pittsburgh holds the No. 21 pick in the draft. pic.twitter.com/E9p6J9FqGU
Clearly, the Steelers think there is at least a chance of Sanders falling in the draft, unless they are considering an unlikely move up the board. There are some mock drafts that do believe this to be possible, but they are the exception and not the rule.
Evaluators are somewhat split on Sanders, with some questioning whether he is even a Day 1 pick. On the other hand, he has been consistently linked to spots as high as No. 3 overall. Recent odds suggest the most likely outcome might involve him falling somewhere between those extremes.
The Steelers would certainly be an interesting landing spot for Sanders if he does fall. They still expect to land Aaron Rodgers, but he would not be a long-term solution. That would make Sanders more of a developmental prospect, but that might be the case no matter where he lands.
Sanders views himself as a franchise-changing prospect who should be going in the top 10 with ease. His willingness to take a meeting with Pittsburgh, however, suggests he and his camp know that outcome is far from a guarantee.
Footage from Caitlin Clark’s legendary scrimmage against men’s team emerges
Video footage from Caitlin Clark’s legendary performance during a scrimmage against a men’s practice team has emerged.
Clark was the most recent guest on “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman” that was released by Netflix. During the sit-down interview portion of the program, Letterman asked Clark about the famous scrimmage she took part in. Clark said that she had scored like 22 points in 2 minutes against a team full of male players her Iowa Hawkeyes would practice against in college.
“We have a practice team that’s just all guys. They have to be students at the university. They basically just volunteer their time. I think we were down 15. So we make a couple threes, we cut it to like, ten. … So I think I had 22 points in 2 minutes was the moral of the story,” Clark recalled.
The video showed Clark bombing 3-pointers from extremely deep.

Clark said that she was motivated by having an audience there to watch the game.
“We had a high school girls’ basketball team there that day. So we had a little audience, and they were like jumping out of their chairs, going crazy. Usually I never react when I hit a big shot. Like, I do, but never in a shocked way. After like my fifth three in a row in like a minute, I was like, ‘oh my gosh.’ I couldn’t believe it. We ended up winning, and our boy practice players didn’t hear the end of it. They still don’t,” Clark told Letterman.

This isn’t the first time “The Scrimmage” has received some media attention. Wright Thompson wrote about it in a March 2024 feature story about Clark. Thompson wrote that the scrimmage occurred on Oct. 20, 2021, just 15 days before the start of Clark’s sophomore season. Clark’s performance in the scrimmage apparently gave her the confidence to start attempting shots from extremely long range — something she started to become known for as her career went on.
Clark averaged 27.0 points per game during her sophomore season. As a senior, she averaged 31.6 points per game and made 5.2 threes per contest. She put together a legendary career, and a lot of that legend was born during the scrimmage.
