Spurs rookie looked like he was crying after getting yelled at in Game 4
San Antonio Spurs rookie Carter Bryant got emotional on Sunday after committing a mistake in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
Bryant got a stern talking-to from head coach Mitch Johnson after he charged into Oklahoma City Thunder big man Jaylin Williams for a turnover with the Spurs leading 72-47 in the third quarter. The time and score didn’t matter to Johnson, who chastised the youngster on the sidelines of Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

— BrickCenter (@BrickCenter_) May 25, 2026
The 20-year-old looked like he was about to break down in tears during a later timeout. Victor Wembanyama had to go into full big brother mode to comfort him.
Williams is the most effective charge drawer in the NBA. He finished top-5 during the regular season with 17 despite coming off the bench. Johnson has surely drilled into his team not to fall for Williams’ tactics, which Bryant failed to abide by on his fastbreak drive.
Bryant was a team-worst -10 in the Spurs’ 103-84 victory in Game 4. He went scoreless with a turnover and four fouls across seven minutes of action.
Bryant has had his defensive standout moments in the Western Conference Finals thus far. But he’s been recognized more for his off-court moments, such as when he was spotted using a public bathroom mid-game.
Knicks player going through mental health episode after ‘upsetting experience’
New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is dealing with some personal issues off the court.
Robinson took to social media on Saturday to announce that he was “deleting all apps” after going through a “very upsetting experience” earlier in the week. The veteran big man did not want to share any more details, but revealed that the ordeal pushed him to change his phone number.
“What’s good fans, family and friends,” Robinson wrote on Snapchat. “I don’t know if you heard or saw but I’m deleting all apps for a little while until I can get back to myself [sic] I had a very upsetting experience a few days ago l’m not gonna go into detail about it just gonna focus
“On the playoffs and myself I know some of you have called and texted and it popped up green thats because I got a new number my mental health is not the best right now but I am fighting to get back on track while playing on the biggest stage in the World the Eastern Conference finals thank you all for the love and support you bring it will never go unnoticed I truly appreciate yall”
Robinson posted the update just before the Knicks’ decisive Game 3 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Robinson played just nine minutes in the 121-108 contest, tallying two points and three rebounds.
The Western Kentucky alum has seen his role shrink considerably in the series due to his inability to make his free throws. The Cavaliers have opted to intentionally foul Robinson, who shot 2/12 on free throws in Games 1 and 2.
Robinson is a free agent this coming offseason and is already being linked to a Western Conference team.
Daniel Suarez had touching tribute for Kyle Busch after winning Coca-Cola 600
Daniel Suarez made sure to offer up his NASCAR Cup Series win on Sunday to his longtime peer Kyle Busch.
Suarez was named the winner of a rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600, besting Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, and Tyler Reddick to emerge victorious at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Tears were streaming down Suarez’s face as he celebrated the result during a race filled with tributes to the late Busch.
Before his post-race interview, the Spire Motorsports driver was seen pointing to the sky, seemingly thanking Busch for blessing him on the track.

“Kyle, he was special, man,” Suarez said. “This one is for Kyle. For Kyle, for Samantha, for Brexton, for Lennix — for all his family.
“Every win is special. But definitely, this one has a special flavor because of Kyle. This one is for him. If it wasn’t for Kyle, I wasn’t going to be an Xfinity champion. I wasn’t going to have my shot in the Cup Series. To be able to win this race for him is unbelievable.”

Busch died suddenly on Thursday due to what was later revealed to be complications from pneumonia. He had been scheduled to compete on Sunday before his tragic death.
Reports state that Busch was found unresponsive on Wednesday while testing a racing simulator in Concord.
Spurs player got himself blessed by nuns before Game 4
One San Antonio Spurs player found a way to win divine intervention for his team for the rest of the Western Conference Finals.
A group of nuns became viral sensations during Sunday’s Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The sister foursome wore Spurs jerseys above their usual garb while sitting courtside at Forst Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The basketball gods indeed blessed Kornet’s Spurs in Game 4. San Antonio steamrolled the defending-champion Thunder in a 103-82 rout to tie the series at 2-2.
Kornet tacked on six points, seven rebounds, and a pair of blocks off the bench. The Spurs veteran is known to be a devout Catholic who remains vocal about his faith, which has earned him several fans among the community of Salesian Sisters.
Fans may recall Kornet vehemently opposing the Atlanta Hawks’ tribute night for the famous local strip club, Magic City.
Fans all wanted 1 star to replace Jalen Duren on All-NBA team
Jalen Duren’s critics were loud on Sunday as the 2025-26 All-NBA teams were announced to the public.
The Detroit Pistons center was named to the All-NBA 3rd-Team alongside Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray, Jalen Johnson, and Chet Holmgren. Duren was one of two Pistons who made All-NBA this season, with Cade Cunningham also earning a spot on the 1st team.
Cunningham’s place on the list, however, was not contested by fans as heavily as Duren’s was. Several voices let out their opinions that Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes was a more deserving candidate for the spot on the 3rd team.
Scottie Barnes missing All-NBA in favor of Jalen Duren is one of the all-time worst All-NBA votes I have ever seen in my life. What are we doing?
— Sam Vecenie (@Sam_Vecenie) May 24, 2026
People looked you in the eye and said Jalen Duren was better than Scottie Barnes this year and Derrick White was a better defender.

— zea 🏳️⚧️ (@zeeterialism) May 25, 2026
Barnes had an outstanding year as Toronto’s Mr. Do-It-All. In his fifth NBA season, he averaged 18.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.5 blocks on over 50 percent shooting from the floor.
Barnes also finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, but was similarly snubbed from the All-Defensive teams entirely.
Duren had a strong case as well in a breakout fourth season in Detroit. He averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds on 65 percent shooting for a Pistons team that won 60 games and finished atop the East standings.
But with Duren playing himself off the floor during the Pistons’ tumultuous playoff run, the backlash against his All-NBA nod is no surprise.
Knicks fans clown Kenny Atkinson for his sad claim after Cavaliers fell to 0-3
Kenny Atkinson may be better off staying quiet at this point instead of giving New York Knicks fans more meme ammunition.
The Cleveland Cavaliers head coach spoke to reporters on Sunday following his team’s 121-108 loss to the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The dispiriting defeat in front of their home fans put the Cavs in a 0-3 hole — one that has never been overcome in the history of the NBA playoffs.
“Analytically, we’re 2 out of 3 in the expected score. We’ve won 2 out of the 3,” Atkinson told reporters. “And I know you’re looking confused, but if you believe in the process, our process [has been good]. Take that layer.
“I think last night, the expected score was like 1 point or 2, our shooting way below expected, them shooting way over.
Atkinson admitted that “no one wants to hear that” and that most fans are “outcome-based.”
It’s hard to argue with that last bit, at least. No real sports fan would take comfort in an analytical win after watching his or her team lose the first three games of a conference finals.
That’s why fans piled on the Cavs head coach for his borderline sad take.
Congrats to the Cavs for their analytical ECF victory 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Cavaliers may have won Game 1 from an analytical perspective. But they also blew a 22-point fourth-quarter lead arguably in part because of Atkinson himself.
The Knicks have won every game by double digits to get within one win of the NBA Finals. New York fans can only hope that their team can secure its first analytical victory in Game 4.
Notable update emerges on Mike Trout’s future
It will continue to be status quo in Anaheim for Mike Trout.
The Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Trout will not be traded ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported Sunday. Nightengale notes that Trout has “zero interest” in waiving the no-trade clause in his contract and that no team will even touch Trout unless the Angels eat nearly three-quarters of his remaining money (which they will not be doing).
Trout, the three-time AL MVP, is finally healthy again and back to performing at an All-Star level. He has played in 52 of 53 possible games thus far and is batting .239 with 13 home runs, 27 RBIs, and an .896 OPS (Trout’s highest mark in nearly five years).
But the Angels continue to be the very worst team in baseball. Now the owners of MLB’s longest active playoff drought, the Angels have the lousiest record in the majors this season at 19-34, and their fans are now openly protesting against owner Arte Moreno in the middle of games too.
Trout’s return to form as well as the Angels’ continued misery have led to speculation that a trade could be on the way. The 11-time All-Star Trout recently even issued a public response to the growing trade whispers.
But the fact of the matter is that Trout is 34 years old and still has four years and nearly $150 million left on his contract after this season (taking him all the way through 2030). Thus, Trout’s toiling-away on a horrific rock-bottom team will likely not be ending any time soon.
Kimi Antonelli wins Canadian Grand Prix
Kimi Antonelli on Sunday won the Canadian Grand Prix to secure his 4th consecutive F1 victory. Thanks to the win, Antonelli has widened his lead to 43 points over George Russell, who was forced to retire from the race.
Behind Antonelli were Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
In stark contrast, McLaren had a horrendous weekend. Lando Norris was forced to retire with a gearbox issue, and Oscar Piastri was not only forced to pit on the opening lap after a botched tire strategy, but he was also assessed a 10-second penalty for crashing into Alex Albon, which resulted in him finishing 11th and outside the points.
Despite finishing first, Mercedes still has significant work to do. Upgrades by Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull have significantly eaten into their advantage.
Additionally, a new regulation that goes into effect on June 1st and requires power units to pass the 16:1 compression limit check at both ambient temperature and at a hot running temperature of 130°, are expected to further eat into Mercedes’ pace advantage.
Next up is Monaco. As overtaking opportunities are almost nonexistent, any team looking to unseat Mercedes will need to out pace them in qualifying.
Report: 4 finalists have emerged for Tarik Skubal
A clearer picture is emerging of the Tarik Skubal sweepstakes.
Rival executives believe that there are four finalists for the Detroit Tigers ace lefty Skubal ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported on Sunday. Nightengale says that the four expected teams that can afford the remainder of Skubal’s $32 million contract and would also be willing to part with prized prospects in order to acquire him are 1) the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2) the New York Yankees, 3) the Toronto Blue Jays, and 4) the San Diego Padres.
Skubal, the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner, is indeed in the final year of his contract at $32 million. He has sported a 2.70 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP through seven starts so far this season but is currently sidelined after undergoing arthroscopic elbow surgery earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are in the toilet this season at 20-33 (second-worst in the American League and dead-last in the AL Central). That means they will likely have no choice but to trade Skubal and their other impending free agents to at least recoup some sort of value at this year’s trade deadline.
The 29-year-old Skubal could be back in the lineup again before the start of August. That means that Skubal would have plenty to contribute to a World Series hopeful over the final three months or so of the 2026 season.
We learned several months ago that three particular teams were expected to lead the race for Skubal as a free agent this offseason. But now that the Tigers are almost certain to have to trade Skubal away at the deadline, that opens up some possibilities for other teams to swoop in as well.
Boban Marjanovic has a heated incident with fans in Slovenia
Some fans apparently picked a very large enemy this weekend.
Former NBA big man Boban Marjanovic was playing on Saturday for KK Ilirija in Slovenia. During a game against KK Krka, Marjanovic lost his cool at some opposing fans who were sitting in the stands.
In the fourth quarter at Leon Stukelj Hall in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, Marjanovic got ejected after committing a hard foul on an opponent. As he was walking back to the locker room, Marjanovic exchanged some heated words with the fans and had to be held back from entering the stands by a number of figures (including Luka Doncic’s father Sasa, the former head coach of Ilirija).
Here is the video of the incident.

(via gregscourt / YouTube) pic.twitter.com/AJxZhrDOeI
Marjanovic, who stands 7-foot-4 and 291 pounds, is probably not the guy that you want to be starting trouble with. That was at least a solid four or five different figures who had to hold Marjanovic back there and redirect him towards the tunnel.
The 37-year-old Marjanovic last played in the NBA for the Houston Rockets in 2024 and signed with Ilirija in Dec. 2025. He finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds in his 26 minutes of play on Saturday as Ilirija lost to Krka in a 97-74 blowout.
Marjanovic is generally regarded as a fan favorite and a gentle giant with a legendary sense of humor. But some fans got to see a very different side of Marjanovic during this weekend’s Slovenian League game.
Draymond Green issues a profane threat to a fan over social media
Draymond Green may have forgotten to switch to his alt account this week.
The Golden State Warriors star Green has been serving as a guest host on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA” during the NBA’s conference finals round. While on the program, Green has drawn the ire of New York Knicks fans for his supposed failure to give proper credit to their team.
On Saturday, the Knicks took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 121-108 victory at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. That led to one particular female Knicks fan (with the handle @HanaHoops) tagging Green on X along with the message, “COME OUTSIDE B—H” (profanity edited by LBS).
In response, Green got even more disrespectful with the fan.
“Watch your mouth before I crush those dirty a– kids in your banner,” Green wrote (profanity also edited by LBS).
Green was referring to the user’s profile banner picture depicting two young girls. The user later clarified that the image was an old picture of her and a sibling.
The former Defensive Player of the Year Green, now 36, is known for (among other things) his lack of a filter. While the last couple of weeks have seen Green go at everybody from Charles Barkley to Austin Rivers, the NBA likely will not be pleased about Green’s profane threat directed at a fan this week.
Aroldis Chapman is being linked to 1 team in trade rumors
Aroldis Chapman could be in line for a return to the National League.
The San Diego Padres are eyeing the veteran Boston Red Sox reliever Chapman on the trade market, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported on Sunday. Nightengale notes that the Padres are looking for more bullpen help ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
Chapman, the 38-year-old lefty, has performed very well as Boston’s closer this season. He holds a sparkling 0.51 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP with 23 strikeouts and 12 total saves.
But the save opportunities have been few and far between for Chapman given how poor the Red Sox have been as an overall unit. Boston currently sits at 22-30 (fifth in the AL East), which means that they are a prime candidate to sell at the trade deadline.
As for the Padres, they are very much in playoff position at 31-20 on the year (one game behind the rival Los Angeles Dodgers atop the NL West division). Though their closer Mason Miller has been looking like the very best reliever in baseball this season while fellow righties Jason Adam and Jeremiah Estrada have also provided support, San Diego is weak on lefty options in the bullpen, especially with Adrian Morejon posting a 4.44 ERA to this point of the year.
Chapman is making $13 million this season and has a mutual option also worth $13 million on his contract for 2027, which carries a $300,000 buyout. That will make Chapman prime trade fodder this summer (though we do already know of one team that he will not be going to).
Dalton Rushing had an embarrassing moment during ABS challenge
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing often demonstrates supreme confidence, but he was a little bit too confident on Sunday.
Rushing had worked a 2-0 count during the second inning against the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wis. Brewers pitcher Brandon Sproat’s next pitch was called a ball, but catcher William Contreras was unconvinced and motioned for a challenge.
Rushing was certainly convinced. He could be seen telling Contreras, in no uncertain terms, “that’s a ball.” Unfortunately for Rushing, he was the incorrect one, with nearly two-thirds of the pitch catching the strike zone.

The ball call was overturned to a strike call 😅 pic.twitter.com/Te5BsacIDW
Sadly, we did not get to see Rushing’s reaction to the outcome of the challenge. Based on Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis chiding him for arguing with the computer, it was presumably not a happy one.
Rushing has waded into controversy more than once this year. He was mocked by many for suggesting that the lowly Colorado Rockies were cheating, and he has been caught insulting opposing players during games as well.
Plenty of people will enjoy seeing Rushing get embarrassed here, but it seems unlikely to change his on-field demeanor.
David Malukas was heartbroken after losing Indy 500
Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 was one of the best ever, but it was complete heartbreak for the runner-up.
David Malukas appeared to be on his way to a win in the final lap of Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, In. He had opened up a lead heading into the final turn, only for Felix Rosenqvist to dramatically pass him with under 50 yards to go (video here).
As Rosenqvist and his team celebrated, Malukas was absolutely crushed. He gave his post-race interview while still in tears and struggling to stay composed.
“I don’t know what else we could have done,” Malukas said through tears. “We were the fastest car that whole race. I don’t know. I gave it 150 percent. I almost crashed this damn car every lap.”

Malukas, 24, finished second at the Indy 500 last year as well. Had he won Sunday’s race, it would have also represented his first IndyCar Series victory of his career.
Dramatic Indianapolis 500 finish was the closest ever
The Indianapolis 500 delivered on Sunday and ended with the closest finish in the history of the race.
Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist won Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, In. in frantic fashion. The race wound up being a one-lap shootout, and American David Malukas had opened up a lead of about 0.3 seconds during the final lap and appeared to be in good shape.
That wound up not being the case. Rosenqvist managed to outmaneuver Malukas’ attempts to defend and crossed the line first in a photo finish.

— INDYCAR on FOX (@IndyCarOnFOX) May 24, 2026
According to the unofficial results, Rosenqvist won the race by .018 seconds before being officially listed at .0233. Either way, the margin was the closest in race history, beating out Al Unser Jr.’s .043 second margin in 1992.
Closest #Indy500 finishes:
— Ryan McGee (@ESPNMcGee) May 24, 2026
Today: Rosenqvist over Malukas 0.0233 seconds
1992: Al Unser Jr. over Goodyear 0.043
2014: Hunter-Reay over Castroneves by 0.060
2006: Hornish Jr. over Marco Andretti 0.063
Rosenqvist finished sixth in IndyCar last season, but had not actually won a race since 2020. He had previously finished fourth in the race on two occasions, but this was obviously his first win.
Alvin Kamara terrified Saints fans during his Savannah Bananas appearance
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara gave fans a scare during his surprise appearance at a Savannah Bananas game on Saturday.
Kamara made a guest appearance during the Bananas game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. and walked out in full uniform. As he jumped around on the field, he grabbed at the back of his leg as if he had just pulled a muscle.
It was all a ruse, as Kamara broke into a dance.

(And he got everyone good with his performance😉) pic.twitter.com/1E67zvgerV
The notion that Kamara might suffer an injury like that is not completely out of left field. One former MLB player actually tore his hamstring while playing in a Bananas game.
Kamara, 30, only rushed for 471 yards last season due to injury and a diminished workload. His future with the Saints is highly uncertain, so it would have been a real problem for him and possibly the team had he suffered a legitimate injury.
Blue Jays lose 2 stars to injury in the same inning
The Toronto Blue Jays’ season has not gone according to plan so far in 2026, and it somehow got even worse on Sunday.
The Blue Jays lost two star players in the span of one inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday. In the top of the fifth, starting pitcher Dylan Cease could be seen shaking his arm after a pitch and immediately left the game without even trying to stay in.

— Talkin' Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) May 24, 2026
The news somehow got worse in the bottom of the fifth. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch on the inside of his right elbow. Guerrero immediately went back to the dugout and essentially took himself out of the game.

— Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) May 24, 2026
In many ways, this is a microcosm of the Jays’ season. Just about anything that can go wrong has gone wrong, but it goes without saying that the team really cannot afford to lose either Cease or Guerrero for any lengthy period of time.
Guerrero has been slumping in the power department with only three home runs this year, but he remains the anchor of the team’s lineup. Cease was a marquee free agent addition during the offseason and had a 2.98 ERA through ten starts entering play Sunday.
At one point earlier this season, the Blue Jays had nearly $100 million worth of talent on the injured list. Some of those players have since returned, but the number might be about to go up again.
Pete Alonso’s attempt at a clever double play failed spectacularly
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso tried to get a bit too clever for his own good during Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
Tigers DH Dillon Dingler hit a weak flare to Alonso with a man on and nobody out in the fourth inning of Sunday’s game at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Md. Alonso could have caught the ball in the air fairly easily to record the sure out, but he decided to try and turn it into a double play by allowing it to drop before playing it.
Alonso was not expecting the backspin on the ball when it landed, however, and rolled away from him. He had to retreat and make a desperation throw to second, which bounced in the dirt and was not caught. Instead of getting two outs, the Orioles wound up getting none.
Pete Alonso has played a Gold Glove-caliber 1st base for the Orioles this season.
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) May 24, 2026
However, he committed an error here, as it looked like he thought he could set up a double play. Instead, it gave the Tigers runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 4th. pic.twitter.com/fxNr7AVLju
The Tigers took advantage of the mistake by driving both runs, giving them a 2-0 lead.
The Orioles handed Alonso $155 million this offseason, but that was primarily for his bat, not his glove. He has delivered on that so far with 10 home runs in 51 games, but in the future, he might be better off just taking the sure out on defense instead of risking such a mistake.
Katherine Legge had strong reaction to her failed attempt at ‘The Double’
Katherine Legge was attempting to execute “The Double” on Sunday by completing the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Her attempt ended early, and she did not mince words about how that felt.
Legge’s ambitions were foiled just 18 laps into the Indy 500. She spun out and crashed when trying to avoid Ryan Hunter-Reay’s spinout, and the wreck ended her day.

— NTT INDYCAR SERIES (@IndyCar) May 24, 2026
Legge was physically fine, but admitted she was “gutted” and would need an “attitude adjust” before heading to Concord, N.C. for the Coca-Cola 600.
“I need to have an attitude adjust because right now I’m pissed and disappointed,” Legge said. “I need to get on that plane and try to get into the right mindset.”

— Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) May 24, 2026
“The Double” is a tremendous challenge for a lot of reasons. The Indianapolis 500 needs to start on time, so good weather is a must. That does not even include the wide array of things that can go wrong in any race, as Legge found out the hard way on Sunday.
Others that have attempted the feat have talked about how it would probably be easier to do once they’ve tried it once. It remains to be seen if Legge will attempt the feat a second time.
Bucks make significant decision about their coaching staff
The Milwaukee Bucks are keeping their most experienced assistant coach under new head man Taylor Jenkins.
Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham will be remaining with the Bucks as an assistant, according to Eric Nehm and Sam Amick of The Athletic. Ham was also an assistant with the Bucks from 2018 to 2022, and returned in 2024 as Doc Rivers’ lead assistant.
Ham grew his reputation in Milwaukee as former coach Mike Budenholzer’s top assistant, and was part of the coaching staff that guided the Bucks to a title in 2021. He parlayed that into the Lakers job. He was fired after two seasons, even though he went 90-74, in a move that left him rather stunned. Despite how that spell ended, he still gets looks from teams in need of a new coach.
Ham’s return ensures at least some continuity for the Bucks. Rivers was let go after the end of last season, and Jenkins was hired to replace him.
As far as the Bucks go, Ham might be one of the few familiar faces still around next season. The roster is likely to be significantly different once the offseason is over.
