Justin Herbert got roasted after laying egg against Patriots
Fans showed Justin Herbert little mercy Sunday as the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback faltered under the playoff spotlight.
The Chargers’ offense looked completely neutered in their Wild Card matchup against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The road team managed 207 total yards, leading to a measly three points against a stifling Patriots defense. The Chargers were also 1/10 on third down in the 16-3 loss.
Herbert took center stage in the anemic offensive display. The Chargers QB went 19/31 for 159 yards. He did rush for 57 yards, but most of them came during a disastrous drive that ended in Herbert losing possession after getting mauled by several pass rushers.
Several fans roasted Herbert for once again coming up empty in the postseason.

Herbert has long been regarded as one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. But his playoff resume (or lack thereof) has kept him from being in the same conversation as names like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Herbert entered the game with two regrettable postseason performances. Herbert led the Chargers to a 27-0 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2022 Wild Card round. But Herbert and company infamously choked, losing 31-30 in an all-time collapse. He arguably looked even worse last season when he went 14/32 with four interceptions in another Wild Card exit against the Houston Texans.
The third time was not the charm for Herbert.
Jalen Hurts has brutally honest message after Eagles got eliminated
Jalen Hurts was candid with reporters Sunday following the Philadelphia Eagles’ unceremonious exit from the playoffs.
Hurts had a chance to be the hero in the final minutes of the contest at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. The Eagles quarterback had 1st-and-10 at the 49ers’ 20-yard line with his team trailing 23-19.
One big play could have swung the game. Instead, Hurts got sacked on the first play, then threw three straight incompletions to seal a losing result for Philly.
Hurts spoke out about the loss during his postgame press conference.
“I think winning is hard,” Hurts said. “Nothing about it is easy, especially when you’re trying to repeat.
“Everything was clear for us and what we wanted to accomplish this year, and we came up short. And so you have no choice but to learn from it, especially if you have a great passion about it. And that’s my approach.”
Hurts went 20/35 for 168 yards and a touchdown in the four-point loss.
The poor performance came just weeks after speculation swirled about Hurts’ future as the Eagles’ starting QB. Reports emerged last month indicating that the Eagles could select a quarterback fairly early in the upcoming NFL draft.
Such an idea would have sounded ludicrous 11 months ago as Hurts helped power the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. But after watching Hurts have some absolute stinkers this season, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman’s confidence may be wavering.
Justin Herbert got absolutely clobbered on fumble that ended Chargers’ season
The Los Angeles Chargers were on life support late in their Wild Card game Sunday against the New England Patriots. The plug got pulled on one miserable play involving Justin Herbert.
With the Chargers trailing 16-3 in the fourth quarter, Herbert was doing all he could to keep his team alive at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Herbert scrambled on back-to-back plays for a combined 27 yards to get Los Angeles into New England territory.
Herbert’s acts of heroism didn’t work for much longer. Two plays later, the Patriots’ defense locked the Chargers QB in the proverbial torture chamber. The pocket collapsed on Herbert, who got swarmed by New England pass rushers from every angle.
The #Patriots defense is starting to pour it on. pic.twitter.com/oAR56xPOcW
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 12, 2026
Herbert fumbled and Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss was the first to the ball. The play was pretty much a microcosm of the game and even the season for the Chargers.
It was one of the stories of the game for the Chargers, who just could not protect their QB with their season on the line. Herbert got sacked six times for 39 yards. Four of them came in the fourth quarter as New England put the game away with its defense.
The Chargers have gone to borderline absurd lengths to protect Herbert. But injuries decimated a Los Angeles offensive line that got exposed Sunday in the team’s 16-3 loss in the Wild Card round.
Tom Brady turned heads with his monologue during Eagles-49ers Wild Card game
Tom Brady put on his professor’s coat Sunday to give fans watching at home a lesson in physics.
The quarterback-turned-announcer was on the call during the Wild Card matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. The weather during the contest was far from the norm at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
The wind clearly affected play on the field, with recorded gusts of up to 40 miles per hour. FOX had Brady do a segment wherein he explained how a QB has to adjust to winds knocking any ball off its intended path.
“I talk about the point of the ball a lot,” Brady said while holding a football for the camera to see. “You see it from this angle. … When you’re throwing into the wind, the ball has to be neutral. If the point of the ball is up, any wind friction is going to push that ball up over the top.
“As a quarterback, you don’t really like that ‘U’ throw underneath,” Brady added as he made a letter ‘U’ with his hand while grasping the football. “Because, naturally, that’s going to point the tip of the ball up. You’d like more of a ‘C’ or a reverse ‘C’. That’s how you control the point of the ball, and you just snap it off as as you throw it.
“In these windy conditions, you can’t be underneath the ball. There’s too much wind surface of the ball to knock it off its path.”

Brady’s a seven-time Super Bowl winner for a reason. In a sport often decided by razor-thin margins, a strong gust of wind could be the difference between a successful touchdown pass and an interception.
The wind went in San Francisco’s favor during Sunday’s Wild Card contest. The 49ers edged out the Eagles 23-19, perhaps thanks to Brock Purdy throwing better inverted “C” throws into the wind than Jalen Hurts did.
Mike McDaniel has interview lined up for 1 head coaching job
Mike McDaniel may not be staying unemployed for long.
The Miami Dolphins fired the 42-year-old head coach on Thursday following four seasons with the team. McDaniel was soon linked to the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator gig. But at least one team reportedly remains interested in making him their new head coach.
The Cleveland Browns are bringing McDaniel in for an interview Monday for their head coaching vacancy, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
Breaking: Former #Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel will interview with the #Browns tomorrow for their head coach vacancy.
— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) January 12, 2026
McDaniel, known largely for his offensive creativity, had a record of 35-33 across four seasons as the Dolphins’ head coach. His teams went 0-2 in the postseason.
McDaniel has ties to the Browns organization, having served as Cleveland’s wide receivers coach in 2014 under then-offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.
McDaniel would be the sixth candidate to interview for the Browns vacancy, and the first one coming off a head coaching stint.
The Browns were also among the seven teams to call up John Harbaugh when he was fired by the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week. Getting Harbaugh to come in for an interview may not be as easy, with reports stating that Harbaugh plans to snub a few teams he’s less interested in.
Liam Coen was emotional after hearing great message from Jaguars reporter
One reporter made sure to give Liam Coen his flowers after his first season as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coen was a solemn figure after his Jaguars fell short Sunday in the Wild Card round against the Buffalo Bills at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The Jaguars held a 24-20 lead late but failed to stand firm in the final minutes, as the Bills scored a go-ahead touchdown with just over a minute remaining.
After fielding questions on his team’s late-game execution, Coen got some unexpected words of encouragement from one of the reporters in attendance.
“I just want to tell you congratulations on your success, young man,” the reporter told Coen. “You hold your head up, alright? You guys have had a most magnificent season. You did a great job out there today. So you just hold your head up, okay? And ladies and gentlemen, Duval. You’re the one.”
This is an awesome post-game exchange between a reporter and Jaguars HC Liam Coen: pic.twitter.com/FwE8aRFaaR
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 11, 2026
The 40-year-old coach looked like he was fighting back tears as the reporter told him that he was “the one” for Jacksonville.
It’s hard to argue against her stance, based on what Coen was able to achieve in his first season as Jaguars head coach. He led the Jaguars to a 13-win campaign, which is the team’s highest win total since the turn of the millennium.
Coen also had some memorable moments for reasons other than football. Jaguars fans remember him going at San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. Coen also had choice words for Sean Payton after the Jaguars dealt the Denver Broncos their only home loss of the season.
AJ Brown, Nick Sirianni have a heated exchange during playoff game
The Philadelphia Eagles produced yet another dramatic spectacle during Sunday’s playoff game.
The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles faced off against the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. for a Wild Card round matchup. During the second quarter, Eagles star receiver AJ Brown dropped a deep pass on a 3rd-and-9 play after he had successfully gotten around 49ers cornerback Renardo Green.
After the drop, Brown was feeling some kind of way on the Philadelphia sideline and so was Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. The two men immediately got into each other’s faces and began exchanging some heated words.
The situation got so tense that Eagles staffer Big Dom had to get in between Brown and Sirianni to break it up. Check out the video.
Eagles WR AJ Brown and HC Nick Sirianni had to be separated on the sideline. pic.twitter.com/Lr2xgP0171
— FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) January 11, 2026
These kinds of scenes are exactly what have plagued the Eagles all season. Brown openly spoke all year about his frustrations with the Philadelphia offense and even beefed with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts at one point during the regular season.
Meanwhile, Sirianni faced claims during the year that his players had supposedly “gone rogue” at times and ignored his playcalls. It should also be mentioned that Sirianni already had a tense moment with Brown on the sideline in last year’s Super Bowl too.
George Kittle gets carted off after brutal non-contact injury vs. Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers took a real gut punch in the first half of Sunday’s playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the second quarter of the NFC Wild Card round game between the 49ers and Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., 49ers tight end George Kittle caught a short pass to the right side on a 1st-and-10 play. As he was bracing himself for the tackle by Eagles safety Marcus Epps, Kittle planted his right foot into the turf.
His leg ended up bending awkwardly as a result, and Kittle quickly crumpled to the ground. He would eventually have to leave the game in the back of a medical cart.
Here is the video.

— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) January 11, 2026
(FOX) pic.twitter.com/u6S6Vm6oZ9
San Francisco later shared the update that Kittle had been ruled out for the rest of the game with an Achilles injury.
The 32-year-old Kittle is a seven-time Pro Bowler as well as a five-time All-Pro selection who is arguably the most complete all-around tight end in the NFL today. But injuries were already a problem for Kittle during the regular season as he appeared in just 11 of 17 games due to both hamstring and ankle issues.
San Francisco went into halftime on Sunday trailing Philadelphia by a 13-10 score. During a season in which they have already endured a lot with some of their other star pass-catchers, the 49ers will be hoping that Kittle’s non-contact injury is somehow not nearly as devastating as it looked to be there.
Jake Elliott produces one of the loudest ‘doinked’ PATs ever vs. 49ers
Jake Elliott produced a “doink” so loud that they probably heard all the way in Pittsburgh.
The Philadelphia Eagles kicker Elliott got off to a rough start during Sunday’s NFC Wild Card playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. In the first quarter at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., Elliott came on for the extra point after a one-yard touchdown run by Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.
Unfortunately for Elliott, he blew the PAT in dramatic fashion. Elliott “doinked” the kick off the top part of the upright, resulting in a sickening thud.
Here is the video.
#Eagles kicker Jake Elliott continues to struggle. He misses the extra point: https://t.co/0ZEn86pgBu pic.twitter.com/7bbtm05V2v
— Arye Pulli (@AryePulliNFL) January 11, 2026
That particular miss might not have been entirely Elliott’s fault. For one, there were heavy winds in Philadelphia during Sunday’s playoff game with gusts in the range of 30-40 mph at kickoff.
But the former All-Pro Elliott did not exactly earn himself the benefit of the doubt during the regular season with his shoddy performances. Elliott entered play on Saturday having already missed eight total kicks on the year (seven field goals and one extra point). That included an awful three-miss half just a few weeks ago.
The 30-year-old Elliott was also looking shoddy during last year’s postseason and did not do himself any favors to start off the game against the 49ers either.
Tyrese Haliburton took a ruthless shot at the Packers after their collapse
Tyrese Haliburton is continuing his war on the state of Wisconsin.
The Green Bay Packers had one of their biggest playoff disappointments in franchise history on Saturday. They lost in the NFC Wild Card round to the hated rival Chicago Bears, blowing an 18-point lead at halftime to lose by a final score of 31-27 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.
It was a particularly cruel way for Green Bay’s season to end, in part because of the sheer number of self-inflicted miscues that they had down the stretch. On top of that, it gave the Indiana Pacers star Haliburton plenty of material with which to make fun of them.
In a post to his X page just moments after the Packers-Bears game went final, Haliburton ruthlessly trolled Green Bay. “Sickening,” he wrote, in obvious reference to the Packers’ epic collapse.
Sickening
— Tyrese Haliburton (@Hali) January 11, 2026
Haliburton is one of the most hated sports figures in Wisconsin due to his history with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pacers have eliminated the Bucks in each of the last two NBA postseasons, and Haliburton himself has also been involved in multiple instances of drama with the Bucks over the last couple of years.
Ever since then, the two-time All-Star Haliburton has fully leaned into his role as Wisconsin’s most reviled. A few months ago, Haliburton made a point of showing just how much he was rooting against the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB playoffs.
Josh Allen had 3-word message for Bills after their playoff win
Josh Allen more or less put the Buffalo Bills on his back Sunday and carried them to a 27-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. He seemed to acknowledge how tough the game was afterward, too.
Allen did not appear fully healthy for much of Sunday’s game and went into the medical tent multiple times, including for a hand issue. Despite that, he battled back to win the game for Buffalo in the final minute.
Allen’s locker room speech alluded to how much of a grind the game was, but he summed things up with a three-word message.
“Shooters f—ing shoot,” Allen said.
#Bills QB Josh Allen in locker room speech, in part: "We stay here. We don't f—ing blink. … Shooters f—ing shoot."
— Jeremy Bergman (@JABergman) January 11, 2026
When Allen is on the field, the Bills really do feel inevitable. On Sunday, he went 28/35 for 273 yards with a touchdown. He also scored two rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner with just over a minute to go.
The win was the first road playoff victory of Allen’s career. With a wide open field in the AFC, a lot of people understandably think this might finally be his year.
Sean McDermott called out for hypocrisy after Bills win
The Buffalo Bills are heading to the AFC Divisional round in large part because of a play their team wanted banned before the season.
The Bills utilized the tush push on multiple occasions during their 27-24 Wild Card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday. Most prominently, quarterback Josh Allen managed to drag the pile for ten yards on 4th and inches with just over a minute left, setting Buffalo up for the game-winning touchdown.

The irony was not lost on those who remember how the Bills felt about the tush push when there was discussion about banning it last offseason. At the time, Bills coach Sean McDermott said he was concerned about “health and safety of the players.”
“That’s not a healthy posture, to me. Then, when you add force to that posture, that’s concerning for me as to the health and safety of the players,” McDermott said at the time.

Many fans, particularly Philadelphia Eagles supporters, were quick to label McDermott a hypocrite.

— Patrick (@PhillyPMC) January 11, 2026
Like most teams, the Bills will keep using the play as long as it isn’t banned, no matter what they think of it. McDermott being concerned about health and safety didn’t age well, though, given how often he ran it Sunday. A lot of other people, including some rival coaches, were not buying that argument either.
Sunday’s win was the first playoff road victory of McDermott’s career. He’s probably fine being labeled a hypocrite as long as the winning continues.
Texas lands top transfer WR for Arch Manning
The Texas Longhorns are getting Arch Manning some serious help in the transfer portal.
Cam Coleman, regarded by many as the top wide receiver in the portal, has committed to Texas. Coleman was a freshman standout at Auburn last season.
Texas has landed a commitment from Auburn star wide receiver transfer Cam Coleman pic.twitter.com/ucxsuQlQze
— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) January 11, 2026
Coleman was viewed as one of the top recruits in the country in 2024 when he decided to go to Auburn. In 2025, he caught 56 passes for 708 yards with five touchdowns despite the Tigers’ unsettled quarterback situation, including some highlight-reel plays. He will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Longhorns.
Texas was in need of a high-end receiver, and they hope Coleman can fill that role. The need became even more dire when one of Manning’s most trusted wide receivers opted to leave the team.
Manning took a pay cut for 2026 to allow Texas to build the strongest possible roster for what might be his final year at the school. Coleman certainly fits the bill, and figures to be a major part of Steve Sarkisian’s offense as the Longhorns aim to contend for a national title.
Tony Romo had the most bizarre laugh at his own joke
Good or bad, Tony Romo was in prime form Sunday during the AFC Wild Card game between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Romo was quite pleased with himself when the Jaguars completed a pass to tight end Brenton Strange after he had singled the player out. He followed that up with a bad pun and a laugh that left a lot of people uncomfortable.
Bro what is this laugh by Tony Romo pic.twitter.com/RO5RTStsOe
— Tedd Buddwell 🏀🏈 (@TedBuddy8) January 11, 2026
Romo unquestionably knew that the pun was terrible. That’s why the laugh was meant to be exaggerated, but to many viewers, it just came off as being more uncomfortable than anything else.
At this point, some people actively listen for the bizarre noises Romo has been known to make on the air. Whether it’s amusing or painful is in the eye of the beholder.
After his initial popularity, Romo has grown into one of the most frequently criticized NFL commentators in recent years. The former quarterback has largely dismissed his critics, though even many of the critics would argue that he used to be much more entertaining and insightful than he is now.
Like it or not, Romo has a massive contract with CBS. He is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Marcus Freeman accused of battery by high school wrestling coach
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has been accused of battery over an incident that took place at a wrestling meet with a coach.
Freeman was attending a wrestling meet at Mishawaka High School in Mishawaka, In. on Jan. 3, in order to support his son Vinny. Vinny Freeman was being escorted off the mat after a loss when New Prairie high school wrestling assistant coach Chris Fleeger allegedly began exchanging words with him, according to Austin Hough and Kyle Smedley of the South Bend Tribune.
Marcus Freeman allegedly intervened and made physical contact with Fleeger while walking through a doorway. The extent of the contact was not disclosed, but Fleeger filed a police report accusing Freeman of battery. That report has been turned over to a prosecutor, who will make a decision on whether to charge the Notre Dame coach.
The alleged incident ended when local law enforcement intervened and separated Freeman and his wife from Fleeger. The Freeman family left when asked to do so.
In a statement provided by Notre Dame, Freeman denied that he physically engaged with anyone, and expects to be exonerated by evidence.

News of the potential charges comes on the same day it was reported that Freeman is still drawing head coaching interest from NFL teams.
Freeman just finished up his fourth full season with the Fighting Irish. He has gone 43-12 overall, and led Notre Dame to the College Football Playoff final in 2024.
Jaylen Brown went off on NBA referees
Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown blasted the performance of the officials in Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs and outright questioned whether there was a conspiracy against him and his team.
The Celtics shot just four free throws during a 100-95 loss to the Spurs at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, with two of them coming in the final minute of action. After the game, Brown singled out crew chief Curtis Blair and accused the officials of blatant inconsistency.
“I feel like, honestly, they just got away with a lot, and I’m tired of the inconsistency,” Brown told reporters. “I’ll accept the fine at this point. I thought it was some bulls–t tonight. I think they’re a good defensive team, but they ain’t that damn good. I hope somebody can just pull up the clips, because it’s the same shit every time we play a good team. It’s like they refuse to make a call, then they call touch fouls on the other end. That’s just extremely frustrating, bro.
“We play hard. We’re outplaying our expectations, we compete hard on the defensive end, and they reward the other team with touch fouls. Just somebody please pull it up. Every time we play a good team the inconsistency is crazy. I’ll take the f—ing fine. Curtis, all of them dudes was terrible tonight.”

Brown is attempting a career-high 7.2 free throws per game this season. That is to be expected, as he is the focal point of opposing defenses with Jayson Tatum out. He seems to believe that he gets particularly disrespected against good teams.
Brown can take solace in the fact that he is hardly alone in his frustration with officiating lately. As he predicted, he almost certainly has a significant fine coming his way, but in his mind, it is worth it to get the chance to make his point. Plus, he was already frustrated, as he already seems to think that the league has it in for him, or at least has recently.
Dennis Schroder had 1-word response to his suspension
Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder had a telling one-word response to the NBA’s decision to suspend him for going after Luka Doncic following a game three weeks ago.
The NBA suspended Schroder on Saturday for attempting to strike the Lakers star after a Dec. 28 game. The three-game ban was pretty harsh for an incident that had previously gone unreported and was presented as merely an attempt to hit an opponent.
On Sunday, Schroder cast some doubt on the NBA’s version of events. On Instagram, the Kings guard posted the word “attempting” in quotation marks, accompanied by a cry-laughing emoji.
"Attempting 👀 🤣"
— ClutchPoints (@ClutchPoints) January 11, 2026

In the minds of many, the implication was that Schroder actually succeeded in hitting Doncic, and it was more than just an attempt. That might explain the three-game suspension.
Ultimately, Schroder just seems to find the whole thing pretty funny. He does not seem to have much love for Doncic, nor does he have any obvious regrets about what he supposedly did.
Schroder is in his first season with Sacramento and has been a significant part of the team’s rotation. He is averaging 13.0 points and 5.7 assists per game so far on the season.
NFL teams will not give up on Marcus Freeman
NFL teams seemingly will not take no for an answer when it comes to Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman.
Teams still covet Freeman as a potential head coach and still want to try and persuade him to leave the college ranks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. They are not put off by Freeman’s recent contract adjustments, or by his publicly stated intentions to remain with the Fighting Irish for 2026.
“My understanding is Marcus Freeman did receive a contract adjustment — not extension, adjustment — from Notre Dame for his agreement to stay,” Rapoport said on NFL Network’s “GameDay Morning.” “These teams who viewed him highly still believe there is a chance that he comes to the NFL. They still believe he is a top-tier candidate.”
"Marcus Freeman still looms large in the NFL coaching carousel."
— NFL Network (@nflnetwork) January 11, 2026
Teams are not giving up on trying to get the Notre Dame HC to make the jump from college to the league, per @RapSheet. pic.twitter.com/uwgJFWELeJ
The NFL can likely offer Freeman more money than Notre Dame could, even though the school has essentially said they will pay him whatever it takes to keep him. The coach made a public statement about his future in late December, but evidently, teams are not necessarily taking that as a signal to stop trying.
One team in particular appeared to be most interested in Freeman, but has seemingly moved on to a pursuit of John Harbaugh. Freeman may still be a backup plan, but is not off the list entirely.
Freeman just finished up his fourth full season with the Fighting Irish. He has gone 43-12 overall, and NFL teams clearly feel he has the qualities to be a successful coach at that level.
Packers face major decision on Matt LaFleur
The Green Bay Packers’ collapse in Chicago on Saturday night could wind up costing Matt LaFleur his job.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on “Sunday NFL Countdown” that the Packers have a major decision to make on LaFleur’s future. LaFleur has one year remaining on his contract, and Packers president Ed Policy will essentially have to decide if the team wants to give LaFleur a contract extension or move on from him.
An update on the Green Bay Packers coaching situation. pic.twitter.com/0Jx3cBRKPj
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 11, 2026
Schefter also noted that the Packers could be a very appealing landing spot for John Harbaugh should the job become available. Similarly, LaFleur would be a highly-regarded candidate for other jobs if the Packers did choose to move on from him.
LaFleur was criticized in many circles Saturday for what was perceived as a conservative gameplan in the second half of the Packers’ 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild Card round. Green Bay had to punt on each of its first four possessions in the second half, with three of the four possessions ending in a three-and-out. That bought Chicago’s offense time to claw back into the game and remain within striking distance.
LaFleur has made the playoffs in six of his seven seasons as Packers head coach, and has a regular season record of 76-40-1. However, he is just 3-6 in the playoffs, and has failed to get past the divisional round in each of his last four postseason appearances.
This is not the first time LaFleur has been questioned for his offensive gameplan this season. The Packers expect to be chasing Super Bowl titles, especially on the heels of good regular seasons. The fact that they have not been able to do that in recent years might spell the end of LaFleur’s time with the franchise.
Packers player has disrespectful comment about Bears
One Green Bay Packers player was not willing to give the Chicago Bears any credit following Saturday’s dramatic NFC Wild Card game.
The Bears rallied from 21-3 down to beat the Packers 31-27 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Il. on Saturday. Chicago was heavily aided by a number of Green Bay mistakes, most notably a brutal game by kicker Brandon McManus.
Subsequently, Packers safety Javon Bullard thought the Packers handed the game to the Bears, and did so for the second time this season.
“No disrespect to them, but it ain’t s–t that they did. It’s us. We gotta finish,” Bullard told reporters. “You know we whoopin’ they a– the whole game, but that’s us. We gotta finish. They ain’t done s–t special. We ain’t finish last time, we ain’t finished this time. That’s some s–t we gotta work on within us. Chicago ain’t done s–t special.”

Javon Bullard: "No disrespect to them, but it ain't sh** that they did. It's us. We gotta finish. You know we whoopin' they ass the whole game, but that's us. We gotta finish." pic.twitter.com/nCs7ER3RZH
Bullard arguably has something of a point. The Packers had a 27-16 lead with 6:36 remaining and failed to see it out. They also had a 16-6 lead with five minutes to go in their last regular season meeting, which included a rare onside kick recovery by the Bears.
The Bears made their own fair share of mistakes. In crunch time, however, they made the plays and Green Bay did not. That is why this game will sting for quite some time among Packers players and staff.
